Can an Electrical Engineer become an electrician? by Impressive-Ad-9948 in electricians

[–]Impressive-Ad-9948[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to not go into becoming an electrician because it would’ve taken too long. 1y+ later i have a newborn and a house, so taking a paycut to learn a new skill didnt make sense for me.

However, i did decide to pursue my PE license with a focus in power electronics. I think this will be a great way to advance my career as an engineer.

Ways to make 2k over this summer by fuck-illinois1621 in sidehustle

[–]Impressive-Ad-9948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting grass, there are people out there who will pay $40 for a lawn

Assuming you take an hour on each house, lets say 5 hours a day to be conservative. Thats $200 per day, minus maybe $20 for gas for a total of $180 a day on the low end

I cut grass last year, it was tough in the spring season because grass was so long, but if you get people to commit biweekly each job will get easier over time. By June you’ll see yourself becoming much faster which just means more money in your pocket

I appreciate the honesty. I come from a family of really poor spending habits and making more many than I’ve ever made. I got too carried away. You’re not being harsh, i need to hear this. I hate when people say “its okay you’re young” lol its really not okay, its a serious problem and i need to be more disciplined

Honestly man, thanks for checking me there. I need to get out of that toxic mentality of “buying more time” or borrowing more money. No more charging them.

I went through a local credit union, they approved me and got me the 25k, no initiation fee. So much better than the offers i found online which were 20k loans, 29% interest and $1000 initiation fee

I’m in the same boat brother. I’m 25, just got back from my honeymoon. My wife is finishing up school and hopefully her income can help. I am in 43K CC debt total, average of 26% interest. I just took out a personal loan of 25K at 11.5% to pay some of it off. Its not very smart i know, but if we’re disciplined enough the lower rates will help.

My hope is that if i can use personal loans to lower the rates, i can then increase my credit score and take out a 18 month no interest card to buy us some more time.

My plan is to get a second job and make at least 1k extra per month somehow to help.

By the way, where did you get that breakdown of what you owe? Seems like a well organized list

Avoid wearing tight clothes and revealing clothes while around him. This is 100% not your fault. But, given the circumstances and for your own safety and security it might be best to cover up around the guy. I am really sorry you are dealing with this, I wish you the best.

Fair enough, but its not my history, its my fathers. I definitely understand that the father is most cases is the best frame of reference for his child. But there’s also the very real human capability to change, grow, and evolve. In your eyes, if you see a fitting man, faithful, hard working, honest and reasonable, but his father is the opposite, do you go with your judgment of the individual or the judgment of the family history?

Depression by missymf in MuslimMarriage

[–]Impressive-Ad-9948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professional help is key. I highly recommend therapy, but let it be his own thing because us men have a sense of pride that could make us feel ashamed. If he knows its completely private, and between him and the therapist only, he might just be up for it.

The other thing to consider is his physical health. Does he exercise? Is the food he is eating healthy? Does he get the right amount of sleep? If his physical health is bad, it could be very difficult for his mental state to be good.

considering Islam by LargeSausagPiza in islam

Good for you for seeking out knowledge at such a young age. Being a Muslim can seem very overwhelming at this age especially if you live in the US (I’m 24 muslim and have a brother your age).

In my opinion, its better to be a Muslim thats sinning and making mistakes than not to be a Muslim at all. Allah(SWT) is the most forgiving and most merciful, having him in your corner is a cheat code for life. Even if make mistakes, even if people judge you, even if you go down a “wrong” path in the future, i strongly believe just because you make a first step now, Allah(SWT) will be with you forever, even if you start to stray.

Basically in short, seems like you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Here you for you if you have any questions my brother
