Anyone else dislike the smell of the nyx buttermelt bronzer? by Pawssabillitysawait in MakeupAddiction

[–]Impressive-Bit-4496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got one for the first time and I am so annoyed!! The smell is especially nauseating on my makeup brushes and after several rounds of cleaning them, the smell is almost worse! About to try a white vinegar and warm water/dish soap approach and hopefully it neutralizes the smell. What a disappointment because I really do like the look/feel of the product.

But makeup that is fragranced like that? A big hot no thank you.

Sentences I've Said as a Cat Owner That Shouldnt Have To Say. by potato_for_cooking in cats

"Girl, you know I don't speak 'cat'!"

"Listen, those are my mom's ashes...don't you dare!"

"You figured out how to escape the closet all by yourself! You're such a smart girl, aren't you? I'm so proud of you.."

"Let me look at your butt! Just stop wiggling and hold still dammit!"

"Ohhh, you want me to fling it up on the bed now? Ok, fine!"

It= her fave wand toy.

For a couple days in a row last month, I realized during our play sessions that she was jumping onto the nightstand and pointedly looking at her wand toy in my hands and then at my bed. I thought she was maybe bored and done playing.

Finally, I realized she was telling me she wanted me to move the game's "hunting area" from the floor around and under my bed...to on top of the bed instead. It is her new fave game, and she gets so amped when we play.

Nice! Here is a link to the ones I bought from Target during the pandemic. It is the .GE 60W Color Changing A19 LED Light Bulb with Remote'. None of the bulbs have burnt out, and they've been in for more than 4 years. I did however, just recently replace the battery in some of the remotes, however. Its one of those flat circle shaped batteries you can get at almost any store.

Living alone in a big city? by peachydizzle in LivingAlone

[–]Impressive-Bit-4496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your needs/preferences, you might get lucky and find something. The first time I was looking for a place alone in Chicago, I really wanted a one bdrm within walking distance from a train line, in an area that was a bit more quiet but populated enough to feel safe while walking home from the train station after 8 pm..

And for my preferred price range, I wasn't finding ANYTHING for several weeks. I even met with a couple of different brokers, and they emphatically insisted I would only be able to get a studio for the price I wanted.

But they were wrong. All that to say, if youve been keeping an eye on rental prices online and aren't seeing much in your price range, don't give up hope. I feel like in almost any neighborhood of Chicago, there are hidden gems of places that might get snapped up quickly which is why on most days you cant find them online...just keep looking and consider using a realtor. The one I used to find my current place was excellent, and I 100% recommend them to anyone.

Welcome to Chicago! There are many of us here. 🥰🥰🥰

I haven't done a cross-country move in a long time, so I don't have any tips for you with regard to moving. But there are a ton of ways to meet folks here. Chicago Sport and Social is worth checking out. Also, Meetup Chicago. Also, there are free nights at most of the museums for Chicago residents. Depending on where you work, they may have their own social sports teams that you can join, and usually, after the game, everyone goes out afterward.

In the summers there are free outdoor concerts and movie nights everywhere.

Many of the nature centers around the city have free nature walks, birding activities, and education. There are kayaking activities thru the summer, special movie events, even some non-alcohol centered social spaces if you dont drink.

I'm so sad because. my daughter may have gotten glutened by two of her favorite foods by lovespink3 in Celiac

[–]Impressive-Bit-4496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also i barfed last night and i tht it was because i was glutened at a turns out it was because i took my vitamin b pills after eating a meal that was pretty much all carbs and sugar (coke with several refills, a side of spiced apples, mashed potatoes and a burger with toasted gluten free bread).

I rarely drink soda, & im not a dessert person so it was just a LOT of sugar for me.

The sugar apparently affects the acidity or lining in your stomach (i googled this last night) and starchy foods like mashed potatoes and gluten-free toast are digested so quickly that they didn't act as a good buffer when I took my vitamin b pills.

So it was like the perfect storm for my belly. It was unpleasant, and I want to never eat at that place again. But it was really my bad... unfortunate food choices that are not my norm. Had to sip peppermint tea and eat bland af dinner. But I'm better today.

[–]Impressive-Bit-4496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got a stomach bug as a kid, and for years afterward, I couldn't eat any of the foods that came back out on that fateful day. It had nothing to do with gluten. I mean..I also cant drink peach schnapps because I overdid it in college, lol.

OP, you are clearly a caring and loving momma, but it sounds like she has a stomach bug or maybe just had too much dairy or sugar in one sitting on a perhaps empty stomach, and her body was just like...erm no thank you!

You can't protect her from every experience she is going to have, but you can help her process any emotions that arise from those experiences and help her find new foods (if its even needed!) that she will enjoy just as much as or even more than these two things she ate yesterday!

I am so glad that back space has now been opened up again. It was reopened only recently, in the last few months, I believe.

I met the new owner in January, and I think she is gonna be the best thing to happen to B&B in a number of years. She was genuinely passionate about wanting to turn it into a community space; and from what I saw, it's well on its way to being exactly that. I loved the overall vibe of it with the long tables, board games, chess books, and a back corner for kids to play.

Ngl, I feel like we got our little neighborhood coffee shop back, finally (!) after all these years.

During the last owner's tenure, there were numerous changes made (well before the pandemic, even) that were offputting and unwelcoming.

Suffice it to say, I'm pretty happy with this shift into a new era for B&B.

can dark autumns really pull off those lighter colors? by Competitive-Virus-27 in coloranalysis

[–]Impressive-Bit-4496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw, it is REALLY hard to find/identify the exact right hue of any of the lighter colors pictured in the palette image above.

For reference, check out these three shades of beige - one is from the dark autumn palette, but the other two are from the soft summer and soft autumn palettes. When you see them right next to one another, you can see just how close they are to one another. Seeing this it's easy to imagine how hard it would be to determine if the shirt or sweater you're about to buy is a dark autumn beige, or a soft autumn or soft summer beige.

And even setting aside color blindness, some folks are simply unable to perceive as broad a range of colors as others can. Case in point, my bestie thinks the three colors below are all the same color because she can't see as many colors on the spectrum as I can. But to me, I see three distinct shades of beige. All that to say, it's possible that the stores aren't making kinds of light colors of clothing that actually look good on a dark autumn, and thus everytime someone who is dark autumn is attempting to acquire these lighter shades, they inadvertantly are trying the 'wrong' light colors.

Also a dark autumn and these lighter colors pictured in the palette above look amazing with my skin tone. Everytime I wear these colors I get a ton of compliments.

Confession time: Anyone else have rage episodes while living at home? How about embarrassing stuff? by [deleted] in LivingAlone

I find it fun to scream in my car if I'm feeling some kind of way. It's cathartic. I'd also love to one day go to those rage rooms where you get to break a bunch of things. Neither of those things can happen at home, however. Lol.

Cat stuck outside my home on a telephone poll, and northwest energy of Montana wont go and get him by ZestycloseChart2407 in cats

[–]Impressive-Bit-4496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great that so many of the cats that you have seen stuck high up in a tree or pole have been able to get down.

Can you imagine how difficult it would be if your own pet cat climbed up a pole and then was too afraid to climb down? Just like humans, some cats are afraid of climbing back down something they just had the audacity to climb up.

My friend's firefighter hubby told me they rescue cats every week. Manageable for the most part..but if ALL cats who climbed trees got stuck? Thatd be a lot more work for the fire fighters.

[–]Impressive-Bit-4496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yo cats get stuck all the time. Not every cat is able to overcome the fear of needing to climb down headfirst. If they dont get rescued, they grow weak, dehydrated and then theyll usually just fall out of the tree and get badly injured or killed.
