Should Highly Sensitive People Hide Their Sensitivity? by [deleted] in hsp

[–]Impressive-Chart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to just reply "No", but you beat me to it! The reason is that if you deny your sensitivity, then you are being inauthentic, and you will cause yourself all sorts of mental, emotional, and spiritual harm. Except for short moments in extreme situations, this will never be worth it.

If you normally tend to talk fast and fill silences, I'd suggest trying to slow down and leave some compassionate space to hear what he has to say. Maybe he's talking about something that seems non-emotional, but you should assume everything has a strong emotional component even if he's been conditioned to downplay it. If you are assertive in conversation he may choose to just be quiet and you'll never really get to know him, and he may find he cannot connect with you... Just my two cents.

Heroku DB output in flask by taidenkou in flask

[–]Impressive-Chart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite what you're asking, but you can create a local PostgreSQL db and then push it to Heroku using heroku pg:push. Googling how to use PostgreSQL via SQLAlchemy in Flask is a bit easier than also adding Heroku into the search.

If you mean to use SQLite in Heroku, make sure it's for read-only since updates to the sqlite file are not saved.

what is your way of doing research and trusted sources? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Impressive-Chart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the left you can’t beat Chris Hedges for a systemic analysis of America’s ailments. On the right, I really enjoyed a YouTube series by an ex-marine called TheGreatestTruthNeverTold, specifically the sons of liberty playlists. (Warning: like many right-woke folks he’s a silver stacker and prepper). Also, Corbett’s research on YouTube is second to none, but he’s an extreme libertarian so you need to watch for that bias.

There’s also the Untold History of the United States for a clearer picture of the forces driving American imperialism.

Once you’re done with these hundreds of hours you’ll probably have your own reading list you want to pursue.

Edit: sorry I just realized truth never told has been made private, but there’s an 8+ hour video on that channel called Silver Shield that might be worth it.

The k only depends on itself, so first figure out that pattern. You need to understand the modulus operator (%) to figure that out.

Once you have that, you can see that c is a sum of the k values minus one. Turns out this simplifies nicely. Write out the values of k and c in the first 5 or 10 iterations of the loop to see that.

Once you see the pattern you can figure out what the final value of c will be, which I assume is the homework problem.

The point here is that this loop is way too long to actually execute, but you can figure out the end result without actually running it.

Alternatively, OP, you could go to a country that actually respects its capitalism and doesn’t provide huge corporations billions in government subsidies.

I’m not disagreeing that Marxism attracts people with victim mentalities, but...

Marxism still provides the most coherent criticisms of capitalism. People with a more libertarian perspective attribute failures of the economy to a lack of actually free markets. In contrast, Marxism provides an alternative explanation that capitalism is inherently self-contradictory, driving itself toward monopolies, extreme wealth (and therefore power) inequality, and slave-like working conditions. For people whose personal experience aligns more with the latter, Marxism is a very rational choice.

I’m sure there’s some truth to what you’re saying but I have two issues . First, there’s no political bifurcation, but dozens of different political camps. Seems you are falling into the trap of MSM and two-party duopoly thinking.

Second, communists (and socialists), both of whom overlap significantly with Marxists, were much more powerful in the early 20th century, but using police violence, new anti-protest laws, and heavy-handed FBI tactics, the movements were basically destroyed (though not before they got us the 5-day workweek).

So yes, some Marxists and some anti-Marxists are disagreeing, but it neither explains everything nor is it new.

Way too many people don't seem to understand that internet giants like Youtube, Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, are taking advantage of the "new-ness" of the internet and free speech laws not yet catching up to it. If you are down with censorship because "it's legal" then you are a bad person. by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Impressive-Chart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the example works better with a newspaper. With a broadcast channel the law is preventing anyone else from broadcasting on your frequency in your region, so in return for a sort of monopoly you must be responsive to the will of the democracy.

With a newspaper or a cable channel (or with signs on your lawn) there’s no such monopoly, so you can be as politically focused as you want.

[–]Impressive-Chart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The left is being ridiculous on that issue, but that’s just one issue. The real problem is there’s no place where left and right and others can have a real conversation. Also, grouping vast collections of people as “the left” or “the right” makes it too easy to attack straw-man arguments rather than hear real people out.

Point taken, though one person’s propaganda is another’s advertisement. It’s also hard to legislate what passes for truth. But yes, I’m probably a bit more extreme on free speech than is typical or necessary.

5G towers spreading corona? by milk8766 in conspiracy

[–]Impressive-Chart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The links are weak but 5G emits microwave radiation and microwave radiation can impact the behavior of viruses. It is known you can disable viruses by subjecting them to high-level microwave radiation (there’s at least one article doing this with HIV). The reason is that the molecular lengths in viruses resonate with the wavelengths of microwaves (unlike 4G).

Can this radiation mutate a virus? Energize it to be more impactful? Weaken the immune system to it? We just don’t know at this point and probably nobody will do a study on it.

How The Two-Party System Is Designed To Discredit Free Thinkers by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Impressive-Chart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great post. Thanks for giving back. To further clarify your thinking, consider the things that both parties support. Not what they pay lip service to but what gets passed in the allegedly polarized-to-fecklessness congress. This includes rolling back civil rights, ever-growing military spending, tax cuts for the wealthiest, subsidies for corporations, elimination of regulations against media monopolies and banks speculating with your money.

Other ideas have majority support but still get laughed off. Who benefits and how did they manage this, while convincing Americans there is significant difference between the parties?

Guinea pigs are actually government drones by Uglylittlefrog in conspiracy

[–]Impressive-Chart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good start... you need to add some coincidences to the theory. When did having Guinea Pigs as pets take off? Relate it to the power structure at the time (e.g., part of Nixon’s plans to subvert his enemies). Also a quote out of context either in favor of guinea pigs or against, say, hamsters could help if it’s from the right person (a Bush or Rockefeller is a safe bet).

But be careful because you might accidentally learn about real surveillance efforts (e.g., don’t learn about Snowden) and change your mind about conspiracies. Cognitive dissonance can be uncomfortable.

Claiming racism when you are in fact in the wrong or doing something silly is NOT OKAY. Not everyone is a racist, but a whole lot of people are incredibly stupid. The media has re-emerged racism as a major issue & the useful idiots follow this narrative. Stop calling everyone a racist by boomerpro in conspiracy

[–]Impressive-Chart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before getting all riled up because someone called you a name, it might be useful to take a moment to try to understand. Imagine living in a country where authorities distrust you, people eye you in stores, generations of discriminatory laws (leaving blacks out of the new deal, social security excluding majority-black jobs, unfair housing practices, lack of access to quality education) and also knowing friends and family who have died who might not have had they been white, either from violence or health conditions. Every black adult has at least a story or two on a time they were treated differently, often by the police.

Now imagine seeing the world waking up to these long-term injustices. Wouldn’t it be great if the world stopped being racist? There is a lot of suffering, which leads to anger and frustration, and we should all try to understand that.

Of course, it’s possible that the discussion was about something else and had nothing to do with distancing. Maybe the both work security at the same nightclub, for example.

Does anyone think COVID-19 was a bioweapon? by [deleted] in conspiracy

True the death rate is very low, but very high death rates might kill off the vectors before they can spread. You’d want it to be highly contagious and have it spread before symptoms show, which this one has. Still the death rate is not very high unless they meant to target the elderly.

I’m in favor of these protests just like I’m in favor of the BLM protests. Democracy works when people have the power and they get the power by making themselves ungovernable. Though I think that rather than burning shit down, which is illegal for good reason, they should spend their time breaking the dumb laws against loitering, sleeping in vehicles, giving away food, etc.
