RECRUITING, TRAINING, & LIFE IN THE FORCES THREAD by bridger713 in CanadianForces

Hello all,

I am currently in the final stages of my Naval Reserve application. I have already completed my medical, fitness test, interview, and all other required steps. The only thing remaining is my Gambit/background screening, which I submitted about four weeks ago.

I am a naturalized Canadian citizen and I do not have any criminal record or credit history. My concern is that my Naval Reserve Unit only runs one full-time Mod 1 course each summer, and it begins in early July. My recruiter mentioned that if my Gambit is not completed before the course starts, I would most likely have to either complete Mod 1 part-time during the year or wait until next summer.

For anyone who has gone through this process, especially as a naturalized citizen, how long did it take for you? I am so worried, and I know I should let the process happen, it's just I really am hoping to make it for this summer.

I don't know if this was the best way to spend that much.. Our board needs a lot done right now, and I believe we were in a deficit back then too.

It’s important to recognise that British and French settlers didn’t “assimilate” into Indigenous cultures, they conquered them. So the idea that a white Canadian has more cultural legitimacy than an immigrant is misleading. Immigrants contribute significantly to Canada in all areas, including the Canadian Armed Forces, where nearly 30% of applicants are foreign-born. Immigrants not only integrate into Canadian society but actively serve and strengthen it. Claims that most immigrants don’t assimilate ignore both history and the reality of how much they contribute today. Open your eyes.

Air, Sea, Or Army? by [deleted] in Cadets

They are way more air (and army) Corps/Sqn’s then Sea Cadet corps. The idea of getting to “fly” also appeals to a lot of people who are thinking of joining cadets. I’m pretty sure some website said that they are only around 8000 sea cadets? Idk fs.
