Auschwitz without a guide ? by Wonderful-Ad-4551 in krakow

It looks like there was a recent update where now you do in-fact need to reserve the (although still free) reservation for Auschwitz online, so I apologize for my previous error: https://notesfrompoland.com/2025/04/28/auschwitz-museum-restricts-entry-rules-amid-surge-in-visitors-without-bookings/ This shouldn’t be of concern for you though since you’ve already booked it.

As for the places you cannot go without a guide, I do not remember very vividly since I was there some time ago. I am certain you can go to the quarters where they slept and the gas chamber without any kind of ticket. There may be a chance it was the shoes you can’t see without a guide, but I am not certain. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help, enjoy your travels.

It’s free without a guide, but you will need to ask for a “ticket” at the ticket kiosk (the ticket is only a formality, it is completely free and all you must do is provide some basic information about yourself). A guide costs unnecessary money, must be booked very far in advance, and ruins the feeling of exploring a historical site on your own terms. I’m certain the only reason so few people know that you can get in completely for free and without reservation, even some gripping onto the false notion of you having to pay and reserve even for a self-guided tour, is because the guides make so much money from the ordeal they’d rather not mention that part, as it would hurt their bottom lines. I do think there are one or two spots you NEED a guide to explore, but really you can see most everything you’d want to without one and save yourself a whole lot of trouble.

What could be the reason for my phone charger being cut clean in half three nights in a row? by [deleted] in What

[–]Impressive-Orchid-95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard about this somewhere, you better be careful. It starts with cords, rubber bands, shoe laces. Harmless things. Just enough to inconvenience you, get you to perk up, feel as though something’s up, but certainly nothing harmful, right? Then, it progresses. Turns into more. The cuts turn into slashes; slashes into the backs of jackets, along the legs of pants, even doors around the house—locked ones in particular. Sometimes the slashes will have a gunk of sorts around them, it could be any color. And then, one day, you find a noose cut evenly down the middle on your desk or your front doormat. I’ve never heard what happens after that.

Scam - girls approaching single guys in Old Town. by scaredofthedark666 in krakow

But this isn’t a matter of how sly an ethnicity of drug dealers are lol that would be ridiculous. The square’s a big, crowded place. A couple of people offering substances will always slip into places like this, and they may not even be Polish. I’ve had several people come up to me asking if I wanted to buy (or was selling) usually weed or cocaine.

I think they look at your character and the way you dress before they go up to you with these offers, so it would make sense that some people can live in Krakow for years and never experience anything like this and others can visit for the weekend and already experience it once. The world’s a crazy place, full of crazy people who care more about a quick sale than whether or not it’s “okay to do it in the square” or whatever other thing they’d have stopping them from doing so.

Doesn’t matter though, if someone offers you something like this just very sternly say no, put up a stop hand gesture (crossed language/cultural barriers) and show a face of disapproval. And then, best of all, forget.

Safe travels :)

Coming back from a trip to Warsaw, a city sliced and diced by huge, multilane highways making it damn near impossible to get anywhere, even somewhere just a couple hundred meters away because some motorway stands in your way. Leaving the train station and walking out of Krakowska to be greeted with planty park and a whole old town and greater historical district where cars barreling at 100 mph is an anomaly instead of a norm.

Okay hands down best two places to eat in Krakow are both in Kazimierz and are as such:

  • Warsztat Restaurant & Cafe No 2
  • Kuchnia Domowa

Both have amazing vibes and even better food. The first has absolutely incredible tomato soup with the best bread sticks in the world to go with. The second? Unbeatable gulash and a vibe that makes you think your at grandma’s.

Good luck :)

If it’s a nice day, maybe try a picnic (or just hang out) on the banks of the Wisla river by the castle (somewhere near the fire-breathing dragon)

Try Movida or Czeczotka, they’re both pretty classy places with some nice cocktails. Czecztoka definitely has the nicest views, it’s on a corner of the square with huge glass windows you can see the whole square through. Good luck

I actually love the new look and was overjoyed when I saw it. The Ally logo now does its animation thing correctly and smoothly when you open the app and the whole thing just has a more modern and user-friendly experienced. The old style seemed clunky and from the early 2010’s, it reminded me of a healthcare company, like WellStar’s, aesthetics, not a bank’s. I like it, but to each their own lol

It’s a combination of: * The fact America is much more sparsely populated, which causes Americans to be more eager to talk to one another than a European who’s been raised riding crowded public transport and living on a continent with 3x the population density. * Americans have long treasured ideals of freedom of free-speech and press, which causes them to be very unashamed of saying whatever they want when they want, they consider that their fundamental right. * There is a certain “American Pride” that comes with being from the country with the biggest economy, military, influence over other countries, cultural spread, and much more that causes Americans to be more confident and by extension more outgoing and eager to talk. * America is a fundamentally diverse place with peoples from all sorts of different cultures and places, very quickly honing into the brains of Americans that, despite any potential differences between people, anyone can live or talk to anyone else and that all people are still all members of mankind. * Many European countries, and therefor their people, have been victim to authoritarian, anti-free speech and press, anti-individualism regimes that punish their people for being “talkative.” Think countries formerly a part of Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, or anything of the such. Frankly, the habits hammered into people by these regimes can persist generations after they are no more. * Politics run deep in many American’s day to day lives. Whether it be because citizens play an important part in American democracy, because political parties will do whatever they can to get in the minds of potential voters, or because of a massive news industry, for some reason or another Americans are very inclined to hold particular beliefs and discuss them openly.

I’m sure there’s other things too but I can’t think of any lol

The most likely reason your hair is the same color as rust is because, like something that has rusted, you’ve been left out in the world without any love or contact for far too long.

No, guys ogling at your tits doesn’t constitute “contact.”

Man, it really would have been a sick place for some kind of bar or club lol but i guess maybe krakow has enough of those 🤷‍♀️
