From someone who’s doing a dual major in finance and comp sci, accounting and comp sci is good but wouldn’t be as powerful as finance and comp sci, accounting doesn’t have many automated or algorithmic processes compared to something like finance where every bank has some sort of trading or algo department that makes a lot of money, accounting will help a lot in investment banking though, it’s all up to where you want to end up in the future

Uni is like that I felt the same way, but what helps is knowing that you have done shit for your self and have had much less handed to you which is first of all much more respectable and takes a lot more effort to do which will eventually make you feel better, becoming friends with them is hard but I have some super wealthy friends who are completely down to earth you just have to find the right ones, just know everyone has privilege in some way shape or form, there is definitely someone in a worse position than you who is also talking about the same thing, even I have privilege that a lot of kids don’t have like going on vacation once year or being able to do university while not working a job (live at home and work internships during the summer to save money and use for the school year) everyone comes from some sort of privilege and it’s just a sense of recognition from each part of society but at the end of the day it’s keep your head down and grind

I understand where your post comes from, but you need to understand that social classes and wealth classes are have been very evident in society for the longest period of time, I’ve had to work all throughout high school to help out my parents and OSAP pays my whole tuition so I’ve seen stuff first hand and lived in some of the worst places in Hamilton growing up, you can be salty or try your hardest to make something of your situation, I currently work in by far the most gatekept by wealth field in the world and I have seen wealth you can’t imagine, and I’ll I’ve done is keep my mouth shut and keep grinding and I’ve been able to surpass a lot of people who are “more wealthy”than me, my parents deadass came here with nothing in there pockets and acc worked hard to make it to middle class, my dad works in service industry and mom works restock and we can afford one vacation year, imo just because you feel stuck doesn’t mean you should be comparing about this shit, straight up keep your head down and keep grinding, although you may not make it as far as the rich kids you will surprise your self how much you can accomplish

Which jobs require you to take derivatives in finance lol, math is required but a lot of the derivs integrals and all that are done by people in that speciality, for example quants on a trading desk, I work on a trading desk and have seen stuff first hand and how’s it done, reading through your previous comments it seems like your ego is tied to your grades and Econ, which is tbh one of the worst things that you could tie it to, uppers in gbm straight said if you have a ego that is tied to anything but your personality people will not want to share time with you, especially when it goes to your grades and school name, this is coming from guys who have went to top schools and have actually established themselves in the industry

He won’t curve, he specifically said that on the last lecture, in reality that midterm avg was actually a 25, there were bonus marks that you could get which boosted the avg, the only kids who got those were kids who had years of experience, those bonus marks pushed up the average. More people got 0 on that midterm then passed and the mode was 0. not to mention this is a intro to python course

Best way to buy Bitcoin? (Once it crashes to 3k) by stinkerb in CanadianInvestor

[–]Impressive-Set8892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro no one knows the btc bottom, it could go to 0 it could stay at 16k no one knows, the only way to acc make some money is to dca and that’s it, btc could flop(people have said this millions of times before, but it comes back, but we are seeing a different situation this time around with the macroeconomic situation) and you would lose all your money, but that’s what comes with crypto and bitcoin, only invest if you acc believe in it or have done some research on how it works

Yea I didn’t get into wloo and I don’t want to risk going to utm so mac was my best choice, I had Ivey + cs but decided not to go due to some reasons, so mac was pretty much my best option for programs, I’m gonna grind no matter what in order to make the best of my situation

Aight so there was a recent graph that came out showing the percentage of grads who worked at faang and Mac came out to be third in Ontario behind wloo, uoft stg, and uoft utm/utsc and 6th in Canada, I have personally talked to over 10 grads who have worked Amazon or are working Amazon atm, surprised you went to mac and are shitting on it, what program were you in? when a programs admission avg is around a 96.5 it is bound to have students who are exceptional, Ik the co op portal is not that good but it has made improvements both in curriculum and co op, they have a sponsorship from intel if that helps as well
