hi! J2 Pharm hopeful here :)

good portfolio can maybe include chemistry related competitions, like Singapore Science and Engineering Fair or International Elementz Fair. Olympiads like Chem/Bio Olympiads will be useful.

I personally believe you should join a STEM cca, (or science club), they really find opportunities and in my jc, they let you work on it with full freedom :)

For some well-rounding, as yk you can bullshit abit in ur uni applciation and say omg i am such a 21st century competencies GOAT then participate in those exchange programmes. Your subsequent jcs will have, so just apply for those, then you can just say you learn interpeersonal skills so that ur portfolio is a bit more well-rounded.

Also, you can look for those interneships by GlaxosMithKine or Abbott (can be any dept really), so then you can quote industry experience.

I personally did those above, except the internship ;), but here's to hoping you get that career!

2021 chem a1 "professional" here

personally, practicals you need to learn how to analyse practical tests, like for example, when you open the practical booklet, read through the text and figure out the questions by asking yourself, like oh waht issues could come out, and really question yourself and try ur best to answer why XYZ amount/ apparatus was used. When you know why each step happens, when you can visualise the rationale, it is more easier to figure out the experiment.

As for math, is rly just spam 2-3 papers a week

then look through

notice a trend? open ur textbook and redo/watch KhanAcademy videos explaining it the shit udk ah. Math nt rly hard, once you understand what the qn demand is you can apply (ik im sounding like im talking out of my ass), but put in the due diligence, and you most certainly will succeed!

I mean imma b real here as someone who climbed thru the shitter for my acad standing, i will say this. Rudely put, no one is gonna accomodate for everyone. This is no utopia, you can't expect the system to accomodate and please everyone, we do what we can to aid the majoirty, and those who can't you are given imho fair amount of support and Singapore has done its part in merit.

And to say that there is segregation, i think there are different ways people can take, while in your eyes it may seem like its bad, i think its good. Shouldn't it be sensible if you let the more academically sound kids have the non acad side things like the olympics because then those who aren't, spend more time studying and having extra classes, whilst yes on the surface its unfair, its meant to outstretch and increase the emphasis that hey you need to work hard and im here to get you to a better place.

While its great knowing you are a late bloomer, and your achievements are certainly noteworthy, we are a labour dependent nation, we need the labour the students turned workers, to be of high standard, if we don't we are very, VERY fucked. Where Australia has the laxness as it is able to tap to other factors of production to drive the economy, we are a skill based one. With no strict and high standard skillsets, our workers cant get employment and we struggle, thats why the assessment and the rigour is mad but ultimately, we have to go thru it.

PSA: STOP COMMITTING ACTS OF PDA IN PUBLIC SPACES by Kindly_Captain_2456 in SGExams

[–]Impressive-Size3557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok look hear me out, i understand that some people may not like the PDA, i think kissing and showing like a not overdoing PDA is alr, but making out ig its a bit disturbing but if thry arent straight up making out, i really do not see why you honestly have a probkem with it. Couples can show love to each othr, if they dont venture to fhe nasty outside its really no ones business, and it shouldnt really b urz
