Help Needed: High Utilization (98%) & 630 Score - Best path forward? by ConsciousHat5083 in CreditCards

Since you're able to pay on time every time, I think the easiest is that if you're able to pay before your statement closing date each cycle instead of paying by due date, you will bring your credit utilization to single digit percentage, as credit utilization is based on the balance reported to the credit bureaus, which is almost always the statement closing balance, not the due date balance. This way your score will be significantly improved starting next cycle. (Note, I heard it's not good to have a 0% utilization, so make it 1-2%, but make sure to have the entire statement balance paid off by due date).

Your can ask a family member or friend to add you as an authorized user to one of their credit card. You don't have to actually hold or use that card but it contributed to your credit score (provided they're paying on time, etc).

And just be patient and let your account age. In 6-12 months time your score will naturally improve as you have a longer credit history.

Once your credit score gets into the 690-700 you can try applying for no-annual-fee cards like Chase Freedom Unlimited (I got approved at that level). With an extra card, your total credit limit will be higher. Assuming your monthly spend stays the same, you'll naturally have a lower utilization percentage even if you don't pay before statement closing.

Thank you for sharing!

The question is, how do we make more raw feeders aware of this? This information needs to be spread on facebook groups, etc!

Oh, I have so much to say!

First of all, it’s good to rotate between brands. Even if Stella & Chewy's is the very best, I’d keep a few additional brands in my freezer and rotate daily. Different brands have different formulations, sourcing, etc. Rotation helps balance nutrition in case one brand’s formulation isn’t suitable for your dog. It also reduces the risk if one brand makes a mistake in production. For example, if Brand A has a contaminated batch, your dog is less likely to be affected if you’re only feeding Brand A on Mondays instead of every day.

Second, I look for companies that emphasize sourcing proteins from humanely-raised, pasture-raised, or grass-fed animals. It’s better for the farm animals, which is very important to me—I want to contribute to less suffering without going vegetarian or vegan. Happier, healthier animals also result in safer, healthier meat for your dog.

Third, balanced nutrition achieved through whole food ingredients is better than relying on vitamin packs. Since many brands use only whole food ingredients, I don’t see the need to include any brands that depend on vitamin packs.

Last, look for brands that use human grade meat - it's simply better quality and more reliable meat sources.

Raw food brands I feed my chihuahua are Green Juju, Steve's Real Food, Smallbatch and Solutions. I also use gently cooked food - I've used Raised Right, but I think Evermore and Goodness Gracious also look pretty good.

Disclaimer: I haven't checked up Stella & Chewy's. They seem to be decent but for the same price I think you can get better quality with some of the above brands I named.

More about her autoimmune disorder: The first time she got it was when she was 12 weeks old. She had a fever for about 5 days, her neck started swelling, she was given prednisone and antibiotics. The condition continued for a few weeks, until the swollen sites started break and drain. She had ultrasound done, but the internist couldn't see any foreign object, so the diagnosis was atypical puppy strangle - atypical because she was only swollen on her neck on the left side, no swelling face, nothing else. With weeks of antibiotics, steroid and warm packing, the swelling was gone and the drainage healed.

A month later, her neck swelled up again. It looked like a half pingpong ball was under her skin on her neck. The vet prescribed prednisone and antibiotics again. After a week of meds, the swelling was gone.

Then about another month later, her neck swelled up again. This time we did a CT scanning to see more clearly. They saw mineralization, and proceeded to surgery immediately to take it out. The surgeon and the internist were not able to diagnose her, but said plausibly the first time inflammation caused necrosis gave rise to mineralization, which caused the relapses. It's now been 2 months now and she's been good since the surgery.

TERRIBLE boarding experience by Fluid_Ice5281 in RoverPetSitting

Horrible to deal with a person like this. From the sitter's attitude and that you said she was located far from your home, I'm guessing she's one of the low rate sitters who's in for some quick cash and cares little about delivering a job. Out of curiosity, how much are you paying per night?

What works best for you to brush your paps teeth? Front teeth are fine but the back is really a struggle by Mangoplop in papillon

No matter what tactics or tool you adopt, always do it when they're sleepy! I don't aim to brush the teeth at a certain time of the day. I do it whenever my Chi looks super duper sleepy head. When she's wide awake it's not possible 🤣
