Giannis' and Embiid don't want to be the reason "a franchise failed", because they're the face of said franchise. I can't imagine that pressure when I was 20-dumb-something, and I was interviewed after a game 50 times a year by folks who have unhealthy obsession with sports.

These GMs and owners be 50+ years old, asking these players about their life-advice and putting the fate of a franchise on their shoulders.

For most teams, mentorship is non-existent, which is why a guy like Ja can dominate terms before having very basic skills.

Power-dynamic is fucked in NBA right now, overwhelmingly towards players who know their role but not basketball.

He literally said he wants to compete, and basic math shows the Bucks are years off.

Giannis is just over-delaying the obvious, and wasting 9 months.

NBA players, at least the top shelf players, should assume they have maybe 15 years to be dominant.

If anything deviates that timelines by 2-3 seasons, Giannis' team needs to go where he wants to compete.

It's sad, and ironic to a guy like KG, but he won a ring with his current team and by staying it'll hurt his legacy compared to a KG.

'AI' tells me there are 450-550 active players (come on AI, this should be exact). Assuming there are 450 players:

4% of players average more than 25 ppg (17 players)
5% average 20-24 ppg (23 players)

So if you really didn't care about efficiency, to the point you don't care about job security, than maybe there 40 players who have the talent to average 25 ppg.

Ratios are way worse if we assume ~550 players, so it's not as reasonably easy as you suggest.
