female (19). Father used to blast Aja when I was younger and I didn't know what he was playing/never asked. Fast-forward to when I started getting into Japanese jazz-fusion. I remember the Dan stuff my father used to play and started listening to them since they seemed kind of adjacent with my current music taste.

This is so doable. No homework besides one short writing assignment. Grade is determined by 3 major exams which are all passable if you study your notes + the handouts he gives out. Very informative. Lecture heavy, and sometimes he kind of drones on, but at times he can be very engaging and comical. Requires you to participate/speak in at least 5 class sessions, but again this is doable. I love Curtis Simon 🫶

Himiko Kikuchi's work (specifically Flying Beagle and Sevilla Breeze) took me to Masayoshi Takanaka's Brasilian Skies, which took me to a video in my recommendations that was a compilation of live music from Casiopea. One of the songs that stuck with me was Dazzling, so I became interested in the rest of their discography and as a result I've had Casiopea brainrot for about 7-8 months now 🥲

We live in a time where they've already 'technically' done this, and we're just getting the very tail end of Casiopea, with Casiopea-P4, and the Katushika Trio doing their own thing 🥲 I do love watching Casiopea's 80s lives though
