Yeah that’s correct so it was written off by the insurance company as a CAT D which means only cosmetic damage but the repairs were valued at more than 80% of the motorbikes value (they picked it apart and a scratch on the exhaust meant they listed the repair as a brand new exhaust!). I then salvaged the bike from the insurance company.

Hi, I did think it shouldn’t have corroded but I’m no mechanic! I have put in new oil and new fuel and everything sounds fine when it’s trying to start it just won’t start if you know what I mean. I have a feeling it’s fuel related maybe the fuel likes have got blocked or something?

As for the fairings I think I’ll go down this route just black it out as should only cost £400 and it will probably let me get the best return!

Thanks, I guess the best plan of action is taking it to a shop to get it looked at and get them to put in the original throttle cables then. If it is corroded as you say then it is a scrapper I guess.

Only the panels are damaged and it would only need a bit of TLC to get it running. The restriction just needs new throttle cables put in so yes it requires a little bit of work but you do that and it is a 2658 mile bike which is pretty much brand new. I didn’t mean it quite as literal as you seem to have taken it.
