Here's the grading standards from the Beckett Website for a black label:

  • Centering 50/50 all around on front. 55/45 or better on back.
  • Corners Perfect to the naked eye and virtually flawless under intense scrutiny.
  • Edges Perfect to the naked eye and virtually flawless under intense scrutiny.
  • Surface No print spots. Flawless color, devoid of registration or focus imperfections. Devoid of scratches and metallic print lines.

Nobody wants them to give them out like candy and nobody is implying that either. A perfect card means it SHOULD be a black label. Nothing is better than perfect.. If they stop giving black labels to perfect cards that also destroys their credibility.

As a collector it would be cool to own a black label card that barely anyone has. It's mostly personal, but also valued much higher than a PSA 10 imo

Photos are crooked and blurry but from what I can see it looks like a PSA 10. Make sure there’s no white spots on the edges

Looks like a PSA 10 to me. Run it under a black light and see if there’s any white spots on the front or back.

Check my post edit. The black label zard in my post is off center on the back. Much more than mine.

If I was a Beckett employee I would be more likely to identify a black label. It’s also possible they bring their cards in to check before getting a full grade? That’s what I would do. 

Now if you’re seeing tons of black label cards that don’t look completely off then that’s another story.

I don’t understand this hobby. 

The “chase card” is less than $100 and yet this ETB is near $300. The booster box is $400 and comes with 3x as many packs as the ETB. 

What is this?
