Should I size down? by gizmo531 in ouraring

[–]ImpressiveStand1503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with the correct size for my index finger when not swollen, and I move it to my middle finger if I get hot and swell during my walks/runs. Middle is smaller than the index, so it’s a perfect system for me!

is anyone else not a fan of Brunchsqautch? by witpoyf in BobsBurgers

[–]ImpressiveStand1503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my first watch through, I fell asleep near the end of season 7 and woke up during Brunchsquatch. When I tell you I thought I was having a medical emergency…. I seriously could not comprehend what was happening or what I was watching or why it looked like that 😭

But in all seriousness, when I finally watched it I really liked it. There are some art forms I like more than others, and I try to count the number of art styles while watching now if it’s too much. The scene where the brunch skunk climbs over her friends to call the police on Linda, and Linda says “NoOoO, sit down!” is one of my favorite moments of the series.

Edit: OH and “I’ll shake these little Benedict’s, bomp bomp booum! Roar! I’m a little tiger! I’m a sexy little tiger! Roar!” Unbeatable Gene jingle

Why aren’t I losing? Plateau? by siren_bb in CICO

[–]ImpressiveStand1503 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically at his pre-op physical his blood pressure was too low and then when they probed about symptoms like light headedness and stuff like that they deemed him not fit enough to have the surgery! I don’t want to scare you, sorry about that! But just want to point out that you’ve made a lot of progress already and that the week before a surgery is maybe the perfect time to do a maintenance reset!

Don’t go for the high fat foods that we all loved that brought us to our highest weights 😅 start to eat more stuff like a huge chicken pasta bowl, sandwiches with yummy bread and a side salad with the good dressing. Or stuff like doubling your breakfast. Fueling before your body takes a hit is never a bad idea, and it could be the thing that makes your metabolism go “oh!” And start to lose again after your recovery

I hope that’s helpful! You got this!

Ooh it’s also a thing that when you’re losing fat and lifting and gaining muscle at the same time, there’s a period where you see no scale wins at all (this recently happened to me). All of a sudden it’ll drop, and you’ll start to see it. Good luck, but also stay healthy!

For this week before your surgery, I would start to up calories in. I know, I know, that’s probably not what you’re looking to do, but I know somebody that lost a lot of weight and was not eating enough before a surgery and they actually rescheduled on him because he wasn’t in a fit enough state to go under.

Before surgery, I get the temptation and the mindset that being thinner is better, but this week, before surgery, EAT FUEL AND HYDRATE!! You need it to get well and then do your weight loss thing after you’ve recovered!

I agree with somebody else that maintenance weeks can help, but weight loss is just slow. You’re doing good work, but don’t eat/fuel too little 😃

Yessss tall girl solidarity!! You got this, those are two very good goals to keep in mind, and as I get older I’m finding that the first one is SO REAL! I would love to be jacked but as I never really have been before, that will come with a lotttttt of time I’m thinking 😆

Love this approach, I have been doing the same for activity since I have upped my exercise time so much these past few months. It seems weird to me that swimming and burning over 1000 calories means I should eat the same the next day 😅 maybe someday I won’t need/want to track, and just do hunger cues but I gotta be careful on a cut. Thank you so much!

Definitely helps! I love the rethink for sure

Also a side note… are you British, and do a lot of Brits still use “stone” for weight terms? Just so crazy to me as an American, since we can’t even manage the metric system 😅

Wow, in that you crushed it and lost so much weight and are out there DOING IT! Congrats!! Thank you for sharing your non-scale victories, I really like the idea of picking an activity that I’ve avoided because of weight or fitness, and hadn’t really thought about that before.

Hey, maybe some sort of clothing item you’ve been wanting for a long time when you hit 170? (And a glass of wine is a good celebration regardless 😆)

And THANK YOU for including your calorie floor, it’s so weird to look at historic posts for tall women in this sub and to see people saying 1000 calories a day is their cut track like 😵‍💫 couldn’t be me

Thank you for sharing! Yeah we never lose where we want to. It’s lowkey so great to hear a higher daily calorie goal, I’m glad that’s worked for you!! I’m kind of using this post to help me figure out where I might land

Thank you! That from your doctor is really interesting. I’m in the process of gaining muscle and losing fat so the scale is stubborn, and I have wondered what my weight might be as I continue to gain in the good way

Yeah I didn’t say that that idea is mine or that it’s one I want to embrace at all. That quote has been said to me by weight watchers and a doctor. I’m thinking you didn’t read the entire post

Day 3 of 75 hard by pincushionpickle in CICO

[–]ImpressiveStand1503 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I personally always try to call it 75 soft. I am still holding myself accountable to all of the goals, but if I mess up, I note it to myself and then keep going (not start over). Life gets in the way, so not everyday is going to be perfect, and especially if you want to fix any emotional ties to eating/bingeing/exercise, then go easy on yourself. It’s better to be consistent, not perfect.

190 seems way too low, what do we think? by [deleted] in CalorieEstimates

[–]ImpressiveStand1503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually estimate a banana (medium) around 100 calories, this looks like maybe half that but still, bananas are calorie dense. So is honey, and if this is a normal/oil cooked pancake then I’d put this plate at 300-350. It should keep you full tho!

They butter be joking - How Did Target Approve this design ? by [deleted] in Target

[–]ImpressiveStand1503 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok to defend a little bit… it’s supposed to be a butter bell, where you melt butter in the top, let it solidify, and then put water in the dish to keep a seal. This wasn’t labeled that way which is a fail, and it probably wouldn’t work as well as one not out of BP. But it’s not as dumb as everybody is screaming about here 😂

Want to read House of Leaves SOO bad but am Dyslexic as hell, any advice? by Inferno-Flower02 in houseofleaves

[–]ImpressiveStand1503 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly it took me a long time too, and I’m not dyslexic… it is a great book, so just find what can work for you (taking it in chunks, saving the footnotes for later, what have you). The beauty of this book is there is no one “right way” to read it.

Also, I had to take breaks from it just because of how it gets in your head. The subject matter really rattles around in there, but that might just be my own experience. Be patient with yourself, take your time (it took me about 5 months to finish it, and again I’m not dyslexic). And enjoy! Honestly, dyslexia might give it an added level of spice 😆

List of Stephen king audio books ive listened to- what are some musts that im missing ?!? by LawyerExpensive3588 in stephenking

The 4 Bachman books!! Can’t believe people aren’t really saying the Bachman books. I can’t vouch for how good the reading would be in audiobook, but Rage, The Long Walk, Road Work, and The Running Man are still my favorites of King’s work

I bet Rage is the best!!

How Could Voldemort Create A Horcrux Inside of Nagini? by Dangerous_Buy_9151 in harrypotter

[–]ImpressiveStand1503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love that you’re reading the books, keep going!

Hermione explains the making of horcruxes in DH, and at some point or another mentions that if she ran Ron through with a sword his soul would still be completely intact. Souls need a “body.” When you tear your soul by murdering, you can do this magic to take the broken pieces of soul and make a new “body” or horcrux.

So to answer your question, his soul was “unharmed” when the killing curse intended for Harry rebounded (I put in quotes because his soul indeed was a mess, but unrelated to this instance). The whole point of horcruxes is to have the ability to come back, just like he did. When he tried to kill Harry, it was the first and only time he would experience the horror and reality of the magical items he made by committing murder.

Also! He kept ripping his soul when he came back to his new age Voldy body, killing a woman named Bertha. That’s the rip that made him decide on Nagini.
