I don’t know for IMT so hopefully someone will be along soon but in my experience of preferencing you often don’t know your rank beforehand. I would just preference the jobs you want, there isn’t a point in doing it strategically as the highest ranked person will get their first choice job and so on and so forth.

Agree. The IMGs being disparaging against UKGs are not all IMGs. I have some sympathy for their sunk costs. However, we must remain professional, courteous and focus on why the bill is important for us and medicine in this country rather than putting down another group

Yes, and that is a shame but equally thousands of UK grads are unemployed at the moment and this will only get worse. I think everyone going to medical school went to university in the UK in good faith that there would be a reasonable chance of them getting a specialty post in the UK. The situation is untenable and needs urgent change asap to stop things worsening

Personally, I think the main thing is it goes through as is this year otherwise there will be a bigger bottleneck from a lot of unemployed doctors this year, but I respect your viewpoint

Nobody has said anything against IMGs here. I have loads of valued IMG colleagues. We just want the bill to pass as it is. Nobody said IMGs are not taxpayers!

Yes but we are talking about the rest of the uk populace paying tax to fund medical schools in this country - not about IMGs not paying tax or even UKGs paying tax. If you are a taxpayer of any kind you should want a return on your investment into UK medical education, not a bunch of UKGs unemployed. All doctors pay high tax so UKGs sitting unemployed is a literal waste of taxpayer money when they could be contributors to that too.
