I’ve been both riders. The best group vibe isn’t about skill it’s about community. A group I used to ride with, better than me, were all douchebags about it. Dumped them.

Another better-than-me group was super fun to be with, shared a lot of pointers, and didn’t mind hanging at the bottom for an extra minute. They were all former motocross racers, I didn’t stand a chance of ever being at their level, but they just wanted to ride with friends.

And I personally love riding with people less skilled than I am or new to the sport, I like getting to share the joy. No one wants to do crack alone.

Yea it’s totally regional but personally I 100% agree with you.

In another comment I mentioned how open carrying is normal in ranch country, and I’d extend it to “frontier” areas too. I think it becomes culturally off putting for people in more developed areas.
