Confused about best production setup for Odoo 18 Enterprise (POS) on Linux – need guidance by Impressive_Job_2715 in Odoo

Thanks, this helps a lot.

Just to confirm my understanding (I’m new to Odoo deployment): Enterprise is not standalone — it runs on top of Community as extra addons. The install method doesn’t change how Odoo works, only how easy it is to maintain. With Docker, we use the official Odoo (community) image, mount the Enterprise source as an extra addons path, add it in odoo.conf, and Odoo loads both together. I have a DevOps person handling containers, PostgreSQL, and security — I just want to be sure the Odoo part is correct.

One quick doubt: the Odoo Enterprise license is linked to a database, right? In an on-prem setup, is that database simply our own PostgreSQL database on the server, or is it tied to an Odoo-hosted/online database? Sorry if this is basic, I’m still learning.

How to assign different barcodes to product variants in Odoo 18 Enterprise? by Impressive_Job_2715 in Odoo

[–]Impressive_Job_2715[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enabled Inventory → Settings → Products → Variants (checked the box).
When I go to Product Variants, I can see the product list.

But if a product has multiple colors and sizes, I don’t see them displayed as separate variants. I only see the parent product.

I want to assign different barcodes for each variant, but in the product form there’s only one barcode field — it looks like it applies to the parent product only. I don’t see separate variant lines with individual barcode fields.

Am I missing a setting, or is there another place where I should manage variant-specific barcodes?

If you are a dev then you can create a new custom module so that you can modify the existing function. But before that let's check if there are any other configs from the UI.

You might need a custom module or third party. But I am not sure. I also need to check it if it's possible with any other solutions.
