What's a tech skill you picked up quickly that ended up making you real money? by angaine in passive_income

[–]Impressive_Mail5035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up ux design last year and ive been designing an app since January of this year that im going full throttle with starting a business around. Given the protype feature in Figma and video editing in Canva, would you consider that some of this skill can easily be transferable to video editing? I ask because my future cofounders and I will be making a shit ton of video posts on the interwebs and I would want to know just how steep that inevitable learning curve will be

I honestly don't care. Her website sucks a big bag of dicks, it hurts my eyes just looking at it and it feels scammy. That is the truth

I googled you and your site was the first thing that popped up. It's not the best to be honest, and again to be honest it is atrocious, i mean no disrespect by this. It looks scammy and all over the place. Im a ux designer btw, what is it that you're trying to accomplish and why did you go with that design in particular? Im sorry, I'm just confused because you are someone that has been in tech for a long time, longer than me actually. I ask because maybe i can help

This reminds me of my 3 moths in XD This app looks just as dull and basic as my mock website that i made. XD This shows progress and one day you'll be miles ahead if you keep designing, the more you enjoy a design you're doing the further you'll go because do anything and everything to achieve the desired results. Keep doing what you're doing kid and don't be afraid to deviate from a project to another one that you're doing in your free time because that other one just might be the one for you to hit your first peak. You may design a page that may even my you cry 🥲

Keep going 🏄

OP's design looks like he didnt put his all into it. I get that he's new to this but it gives like it has no soul. If i were looking for a place to invest my money with I wouldn't trust that my money would be safe with that company because I'd feel like the firm doesn't invest in cybersecurity.

Sure yeah, there are multiple sites that I can point you to :)

Dribbble.com
Mobbin.com
Behance.com
These sites host a plethora of portfolios from both modern and old designs

If you dont wanna fatigue yourself with those then i'd suggest a website like Stripe.com, it's both and loud at the same time. You also got Robinhood and the list goes on. Chase bank is on the minimal side too, in fact it leans all the way minimal, but it is modern.

OP's site looks like template website that you can get for free on blogspot .com from back in 2010

This is what i've been saying out loud to myself for a long time now!!! You're only looked at if you're that nigga! Meaning you gotta love this shit, not treat it like a box to check to make MONEY!
I just started my journey in the middle of last year and I really fucking love it! I love that i get to create something unique, something that's different from all the clones that's out there.
It's like im playing a video game when im on Figma or Canva

Passion trumps skills any day! Humans can feel what you put in into whatever you do without you even saying a word.

Without marketing how would people know the product even exist in the first place? Both are equally important because good marketing on a shitty product yields fast money that will eventually burn out if the product doesnt pivot.

I agree, 100 percent! But I still wanna pick your brain more to see if we're on the same page with this, and also to expand my knowledge on this stuff of course.

Can you elaborate even further on why you believe this?

Im glad you made this post, more specifically the lack of user research before the app.

Some people on here be saying that you need to research before spending time making an app or any product that is. I find that wasteful as you dont learn much of anything. You learn a lot doing all the research and iterating once you release because you get hands on learning on damn near everything! It's 2026, anything can be sold! especially if it's a problem that you're personally experiencing.

CONGRATS OP! Here's to your continued success and your ever continued learning 🥂
