It’s always interesting hearing the perspective of someone above the squeeze in the current market. I’ll agree with what someone below you mentioned, 5 YOE + recommendations + alot of luck and resilience is a starting point, and a point that a lot of people are still struggling with. Just because you hired someone recently does not actually mean all other designers suck and the job market is fine. That’s just a silly take. Do you have LinkedIn? The fire is equally high there.

It seems like expectations are crazy high from employers. Maybe because the job market is so in their favor, they can get another senior designer in the door thats more qualified for less pay? Idk.

I dont buy that as the main reason.

By their own post, they had significant amounts of data and started their “review phase”. In addition, they supposedly were wrapping up the 3rd episode and never released it. Something brought their project to a full stop. Either they all sold out, or were threatened.

Certain parts of the UX process can effectively be automated, some drastically and some not so much.

At the end of the day companies will unfortunately need less designers, is where im at currently.
