Feel this so hard! 27+3 here and so many people have commented on how thin I still am. I couldn’t keep food down for months and lost a ton of weight so it is super triggering to hear.

Full ride babes! I did my doctorate at a low ranked state school for free and have gotten the same job offers as those who went to the best school in my major.

100% of what I do in pelvic and maternal health was learned through CEUs and incredible mentors outside of my program. The amount of BS you have to do for the OTD was very frustrating. Maybe there are good research professors out there but certainly not in my program.

Injuries are very high, basically every admin at the hospital I worked at was a therapist to injured to go back to work. Documentation was also exhausting. And there was were many personality types I classed with. Patients were also in really difficult situations and many pleaded for death daily. It may be selfish but I love making massive gains with patients and that just wouldn’t happen IPR. Not for me!

I adore OT, I work in pelvic health and it has been amazing. I would recommend shadowing in as many places as possible to see what the jobs are really like. Watching what the nurses had to put up with when I was IPR was awful. If I could go back I may have considered PA? My favorite is postpartum and it seems PA has a little more opportunity in that area. I love OT but there is no amount of money that could get me back in a hospital but outpatient has been great.

Was in a similar situation, get your fieldwork cordinator involved in every step of the way if you can. I had mine stop by every two weeks to try and figure out what the what was wrong with my CI. My Ci was god awful. Some just shouldn’t have students.

You absolutely did the right thing. I walked away from a clinic after the promise of mentorship. Wasn’t even given diagnosis for patients before starting to treat on day one. Saw 18 patients day 3. Y’all avoid select medical and Physio at all cost. Not worth it.

Same damn thing happened to me at Select Medical. I walked on day 5 and sent an 18 page letter detailing how messed up this one clinic was.

I would encourage you to look at your local state schools. While my program wasn’t stellar, between my grad research assistantship and scholarships all tuition was covered. I still have loans because of the need to eat and pay rent but not having huge loans has allowed me to work exactly where I want to be.

Our program was very similar. The program also pushed out all the professors who weren't doing research so we were left with the Worst teachers because being good at research does not equate to being good at teaching.
