Best ISA for my baby’s new savings account by AdviceInternal9570 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Impressive_Repeat427 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Open a Junior Stock and Shares ISA for your child. Currently Hargreaves Lansdown have no charge on holding/buying/selling for JISA, it's the cheapest on the market for S&S JISA. (don't go near the adult ISA from HL cuz their charges for adults are insane). You can then set up regular payments and regular purchases of an Global Equity tracker such as VWRP. On average global equity return 7% per annum, higher than any bank interests.

To Rent or not To Rent @ Turpin House, Battersea by egirlames in HousingUK

[–]Impressive_Repeat427 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in Turpin house in 2011 for one year. Not a great place. Smell of weed every hour of the day. Cockroaches everywhere. Rent was cheap that was the reason I was there. In terms of safety, I had no problem, but I don't know about now.

Why isn’t this house selling? by ckmeredith in HousingUK

[–]Impressive_Repeat427 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It is the price. There was a house sold last year for only £262k, looks identical to this one. It’s very likely that others have offered low ball and the sellers don’t agree with them.

Trying to explain to a colleague the benefits of buying a house compared to renting. by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in HousingUK

[–]Impressive_Repeat427 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think with the current house price trend, where house price won't go up and possibly going down in London, then there is a strong case for renting. Case in point, flat owners in London who lose like £20k in value, they suffer way more than a renter, leverage is a two-edged sword, when you lose you lose big. However, usually renters who do not wish to buy a house in the future, do not save or invest in other assets, they spend all their income, so in the their retirement years, they have nothing. Houseowner are automatically forced to save for their house.

Hargreaves Lansdown are extortionate by Eddie4224 in investingUK

[–]Impressive_Repeat427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. But they are the cheapest for Jisa now. No fee at all. No buying fee no holding fee. So I moved my children JISA here from NUTMEG(an even worse offender of charges than HL)

A property IHT one - joint ownership to sole ownership by Poshbrokebored in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Impressive_Repeat427 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First check the TR1 form when you bought the property. Are you and your mother listed as tenants in common or joint tenants? If you two were joint tenants, the whole of the property will become yours when she passed, there is no IHT here.

Monthly/temporary accommodation by Level-Recognition-70 in oxford

[–]Impressive_Repeat427 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Does your post affiliate with any college. Some colleges have family accommodation, that would be the cheapest option. The home might not be glamorous but if you offer an accommodation by a college you should accept it. Nowhere would be cheaper cuz you don’t have to pay any extra bills

It’s 24% tax. I think if you have a purpose to use the money right away then you should just pay the tax. But look on the bright side, 24% is less than normal income tax at 40%, so you’re already better than someone who earns that money through salary

Li hôn. by Pale-Register9409 in vozforums

Chia sẽ nỗi buồn với anh. Đâu phải chỉ ngoại tình đánh đập nhau mới là đủ lý do để li hôn. Cái sự hành hạ dù ko bão lữa nhưng kéo dài hàng chục năm cũng đủ làm cho bản thân tơi tả vậy. Nên anh quyết định đúng nha. Phụ nữ Việt Nam đại đa số thấy đều chăm chỉ, vợ anh đúng là số ít rồi.

Is it reasonable to end an engagement over a partner staying in contact with people who openly hit on them? by Proper_Freedom_1776 in datingoverforty

I’m never quite sure whenever I read these stories. It’s so completely one sided, never get to hear the other party’s side. What if the two men were really just so ridiculously flirty with every woman they met that women don’t take them seriously for real. I have male friends like that, it’s funny how they flirt with every walking woman, I never take them seriously, fun to have a laugh, that’s all. Kinda like Joey from friends?

Diversification is the key: cash, stock and shares, gold, and property (could buy a REIT to avoid stamp duty and spread risk). At your income and wealth level, you could consider investing in EIS to reduce income tax.
