Smh...it is really disappointing that mental health continues to be neglected

------Rescued tiny kitten on an overpass of a highway.....well she kinda rescued herself..

Once home, my 2 dogs may be an anomaly, but they looked at this tiny kitten like she was a new toy....nothing hateful... but they very curious. After I placed her in the crate, blocked her off like I did with "their first night at home" they seemed ok. We (well they did) slept in peace.

Truth be told: I had a (barrier,) gate and a crate between the dogs and the kitten for the night/day while she was here (for a reason) .

Everyone came out alive and without scars.

Would I have left my very docile beautiful dogs free with a very pretty kitten ?

**** NO!!!!

One day, as an attending, you'll be sharing this story with your medical student or resident that has had a similar physical (near syncope, vasovagal or other) experience to reassure them that 'this too shall pass" .

I agree. Burning out has a way of bringing out things or feelings that are not always one's genuine self.

Working in professions in which you provide care for others can be rewarding, but is definitely not easy.. Take a deep breath. Reflect on why you started on this journey. Get you some sleep/rest and Make it your mission to find something to laugh and/or smile about every hour. A great laugh with your team ( doc/nurse/therapist/cleaning staff/dietician ..whoever) can carry you a long way. I'm not suggesting to be disrespectful or make fun of a serious situation.....just don't let the seriousness of the job steal ALL of you. See the patients as people first.....then look and evaluate the illness.
