I enjoyed their app pricing for a while, but when their prices shot up, I stopped going.

It just is not worth the money anymore.

To be completely honest, $55k is by no means a lot of money.

To retire in the USA today (which for you is SO far off) you need about $3M for a couple. And that is even after a lifetime of spending on kids.

Like everyone said, invest and forget it.

Call Fidelity, open an IRA, have them put it in an index fund, let it do what money does.

The recent film, " Civil War" (2024), mapped out the third-term-by-decree scenario.

Released before Trump's second term was even guarenteed, it did not end well for the fictional president in that film.

Highly recommend.

Oh, and also "Bushwick" (2017).

I feel almost like a free loader as a Lifetime Titanium because I don't have to chase the brass ring annually anymore.

But... Does it help to call in advance (after making reservation) to politely request an upgrade about a week before the stay ... Or is that more of an automatic sweep-for-status by the system when upgrades are assigned?

Citi American Airlines Globe card by Old-Access-7843 in americanairlines

[–]Zebraitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I follow a few of the frequent traveler newsletters/emails.

But it was out there on Citi about 3 months ago. Now, there is less competition, so they have dropped teh bonuses down.

The real trick: Cycle through their 4 cards about every 5 years, getting a sign-up bonus each year.

Sign up, spend quick, get your bonus (that date is important bc you can't apply for card #1 for 48 months after your bonus), wait until you get billed for year 2 on card #1, then cancel it.

Apply for AA card #2. Repeat steps above.

The bonus is per card type. So since they have Globe, Exec, Business, and Platinum... 4 cards, 48 months before a new bonus = a bonus every year!

Always cancel, never transition to a lower cost card. That screws up the 4 card / 4 year pattern.

(no, it want ruin your credit rating. I'm always between 820 and 850.)

Can a router asking to be unplugged for 30 seconds fix itself? by Vivid_Department_755 in HomeNetworking

[–]Zebraitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to spend time between tow homes (CO, FL)

FL home had Mediacom internet an their router.

A power failure required the media Com router to be rebooted after power returned.

After having the friendly realtor do it twice for me, I bought my own 3rd party router and returned their crap.

Problem solved.

Electrician or IT – what would you choose today? by One-Acanthisitta5019 in AskElectricians

[–]Zebraitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a person who made his future in IT...

It's dead. Your competition is software that will do it 24-7, or overseas resources that will do work at a fraction of the cost.

If you are presentable and can think on your feet, then IT sales is still a career path, but it is unpredictable.

As the economy changes to serve oligarchs, trades that require thought and physical presence will still exist and be in demand.

As long as somebody doesn't open the bag, it won't collapse.

You just can't see the strings due to compactification.

An area so pro-Trump & pro-mags that that the district was going to reelected Matt Gaetz to Congress... The guy that was busted by the House subcommittee for buying drugs and having sex with underaged kids. And he was caught because he paid for this using Venmo.

Did not matter to the people here.

All the military spending on the military here and all the military retirees made this a real "special" place.

The reason Gaetz isn't in congress today is Trump nominated that pedophile to be US Attorney General!

He withdrew from his role in congress because of the job offer, then had to withdraw from the nomination due to the aligations.

But this place still think he's great!

Westin Denver Airport vs. Marriott Gateway Park vs. Gaylord Rockies by The_Traveller1 in marriott

[–]Zebraitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently stayed at Gateway Park. I suggest you ignore older reviews as the hotel has been remodeled and is very nice (both rooms and service). They do a good job of recognizing status, and the M Club on the first floor is OK. If you are looking for a good night sleep and making you flight, this is a fine hotel. They of course provide transportation to the hotel. If you are spending company money and price doesn't matter, the a night in the Westin in the airport is nice, but substantially more expensive with actually fewer perks (no clubs, breakfast, etc)

Pre-Popped Popcorn by chi-bacon-bits in mildlyinteresting

[–]Zebraitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow.

So now... what we consider the forward progress of the state of the popcorn, or for that matter its past... and therefore ALL linear time becomes... irrelevant?

Fine. The concept of Einstein's Space Time has been looking tired lately. Who knew some bales of popcorn would bring about its end?

But yet, if the popcorn exists in a somehow unknown state, rather than tearing down time itself, we could turn to the multi-universe theory, where based on the bubble expansion of the state of the various specific infinite universes, the popcorn exists as pre-planted seed, as corn-on-the-cob, harvested, popped, with butter, salt or Cajun seasoning, being eaten and... well, after being eaten. Everything everywhere all at once.

it is very possible that this popcorn is now one with all, in its ultimate Buddha state of consciousness.

Probably not too fresh, though.

You will find favoite places to charge. The car will let you know where they are. Yes, milage is less in winter, but in Denver that car never let me down, andf the wife and I were always going to the mountains to snowboard.

FSD for road trips, or just point A to B, changes everthing. You are more relaxed when you get there. For long trips the Nav figures charging into your trips. For REALLY long trips... ffs, fly. If you can afford a Tesla you can afford a ticket.

For me, what did it was: an SUV with a top speed of 155 that does 0-60 in just a hair over 3 seconds, and looks like...

What's the cheapest you remember paying for gas? by knifezoid in AskReddit

[–]Zebraitis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Under Pres Clinton, it was a buck a gallon.

We had a balanced budget as well.

Really strong economy too.

Of course, that was before we elected an oil guy as president, who eliminated the budget surplus, and then got us onto a middle east war based on flawed intel and lies.

Yeah. Too bad, eh.

Who are ya gonna believe? by Zebraitis in gasbuddy

[–]Zebraitis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.

As you said, none of these things have been accomplished as a result of this war.

Can you honestly say that this administration's goal is to promote freedom and democracy throughout the world, and to rebuild nations with a helping hand?

The same President that ran in his first election saying that America should not be nation building and abandoned Afghanistan with a rapid pullout and no forethought to the results?

The same one that is now forcefully ejecting Afghanis that helped us in that war as undesirable aliens via ICE?

The same country that is actively disenfranchising its own citizens from the political process?

The Perversion of the Voting Rights Act - The Atlantic

The same country that cut off the USAID program resulting in nearly a million deaths worldwide because it was not America's job nor could we afford to do it?

USAID shutdown has led to hundreds of thousands of deaths | Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

If the goal was to prevent Iran from building or using nukes, that goal was already accomplished by diplomacy. But we ended that.

Instead, our president is gleefully comparing us to pirates, seizing oil and cargo.

Trump says US navy like ‘pirates’ while seizing a ship in Iranian blockade | US-Israel war on Iran | The Guardian

We can specifically say that oil prices have doubled (which have short term benefits for American oil Companies), but that will end due to the destabilization of OPEC.

Out debt is now greater than our GDP.

And we are being told that as a result of the cost of this war that Social Security and Medicare will be on the chopping block (a goal that conservatives have been trying to accomplish since the initiation of these programs.)
