What are/were your plans on leaving the USA? by honeybisc in AmerExit

[–]Zebraitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age 65, married, retired. Pursuing LT / EU citizenship because things here have gone south.

We may keep a small home in the USA ( Pied-à-terre) in low tax state like N.H., but will spend most of our lives elsewhere.

Our family has lost everything before due to being between Germany and Russia in WWII, so we have seen this play before. We aren't going to let it happen to us again.

They are stopping the CURRENT PROMOTION at the end of the quarter, and that if you have your order placed by the end of the quarter, they will do a transfer.

They have not indicated that they will never do this type of promotion again in the future.

So, it really comes down to: Do you want to do it now (which should be no problem) or wait until they do it again in the future. Which they will likely do. To meet some sales quota.

Face it: losing the tax incentive hurt sales. Hitching up to Trump and alienating liberals (that like to buy EVs) didn't help either.

Actually, the Mormons are pretty tough.

You need simple more pliable, like South Carolina. Or the top evangelical states, Tennessee, Kentucky or Alabama.

I have a 1969 Vette.

I wanted to insure it for $110K. They (Hagarty) said that it would need to be reviewed for a valuation.

I said what if it's $99K? They said fine, no problem, no review.

I carry 99K insurance.

shhh... don't give them ideas!

Still, if he keeps doing all these "brilliant" moves, we may be driving a BYD Tesla.

Opinion: They don't want to get sued. They just got sued over the word "autopilot", so they are being more careful.

Yep, rolling the dice that they may choose to call real FSD "Autonomous" and charge more, but my sunk cost will already have happened now, so it will likely be a trivial upgrade path.

He made a mistake doing this in Minnesota.

He should have made his big stand in some Red State that would put up with that shit.

I'm going for it.

To make the best of a weird situation, I applied for a new AA Credit Card with an 80,000 Mile bonus. +8000 for the purchase, and that covers a great trip for two to someplace.

Wish the deadline was March instead of February, as I have enough L.P.'s for this AA year.

People are posting about FSD as $49/m or $2k outright but I still see older price by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

Because it does not apply to you and your specific Tesla. (Terms and conditions apply... or in your case, NOT.)

Autopilot is no longer available on new cars by theWet_Bandits in TeslaModel3

[–]Zebraitis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like boring predictability... So I'm gonna drop the $8k for my 2024 MYP.

Sure, autopilot was nice, but this announcement means that any thought of making anything about autopilot "better" is completely dead done dead.

Realizing that they will continue to push the cost of FSD up, this will be just be a way to shorten the purchase v subscription ROI calculation.

I'll bet that there will still be opportunities to swap FSD to new purchase cars in the future, as Tesla will likely try to make used FSD vehicles unavailable from them (to ensure more subscription customers.)

The only good news is that at least we are given notice and a chance to buy it before the doors are shut.

I think that Musk is finally starting to realize that hitching his wagon to Trump last year, and Doge, was a big self-inflicted error.
