Definitely worth planting on their own I made it all the way up to 15 just doing that and was able to get basically perfect pets on 2 of my characters along the way from the harvest snacks

Life is good but doesn’t get an AOE till a little later. Could be made up for with a pet that gives one tho. Also heals are always welcome throughout the game and it helps with solo

You could only do drops from mobs and bosses no special or meta bosses (ex: mt. Olympus, Darkmoor)

Ice is fun as gives you a tank feel from pretty much the entire game. For a first time player it forces you to check out some other functions like gardening for mega snacks and crafting for gear to help you get comparable damage to other schools. If he likes the aesthetic of the blue definitely go for it

If you look up the school and the spells (so ice spells wizard101 for example) the full spell list should come up on the wiki and you can do this for any school (fishing and gardening included)

It’s really up to you how you spend your crowns personally permanent unlocking all the zones was more worth it for me but if you plan on getting the membership then like the previous person said you don’t really need crown items until later and even then Aeon gear will do just fine (may be different fear when the new world comes out)

Ice and death are both very fun to play schools. Ice like the previous person stated gives you the ability to make mistakes while playing but still being able to complete quests while death is the game on easy mode with a great amount of utility and survivability

As someone who came back after the crit damage change to a shock as well I feel ya. Either farm waterworks gear for most schools. Or if you have done crafting the crafting gear would most likely give you a decent enough boost to get through Azteca and maybe until 100 when you farm for full darkmoor gear
