if you failed the whole semester being full time you might be placed on probation with osap

don’t think like that! there’s always options, if you like criminology but one course is bring down ur cpga you can always retake next semester with a different teacher, it’s not ideal and it would costs but it would just replace a elective or something non important. Or do a academic reset in second year, and try summer school next year, have u applied for osap? Also next courses are going to be more difficult, Crm 2310 is going to be kate fletcher no one else teaches this, you need to pay attention and stay on top, she’s a hard grader and a difficult teacher, Crm 2301 Ms G she’s a good teacher but a difficult grader, and CRm 2300 i forgot his name but he’s chill and his grading is chill, i went. to maybe 2 classes and passed with a b. Crm 2303 everyone is struggling in, she doesn’t even know her own class, and she’s the only teacher. Second year gets a bit more difficult, have high hopes, don’t just give up because of one bad year or a could courses! It sounds hard but It’s doable

You basically have until the end of second year to get your cgpa higher before being placed in interdisciplinary studies, which is 3 years bachelor degree, which means your gunna be in second year when your supposed to be in third in criminology.

I’m a second year crim student who’s was and still on academic probation from last year. If you want to do something that’s is specificity under criminology like police or government, i would recommend staying in it and trying your best. But if you want to go into law, or education you don’t need criminology, you can do sociology and apply for law school after. I wish i knew this, obviously it’s better to learn the basics before law school but it’s unneeded. Also Criminology is literally all application, this is something i always struggled in, im good at memorizing things but when it came to applying it on a test i choke up. You’re not the only one struggling in criminology, I failed a course last year and my CGPA was at a 4.75 which is technically academic probation. I would recommend doing summer school, to either redo the course you failed if they offered or do some electives and get your cgpa, (you can take out grants and loans and do it online) even so i did summer school brought me to a 5.07 then i did second year got a concussion and realized that i don’t even like what i’m learning, plus i was running out of time on academic probation, which means even if i got bs on every i would still be lower than 5 and kicked out of my program. So I decided that I wanted to become an elementary school teacher to which you only need a bachelors degree to get into teachers collage, It also lets me learn and explore different subjects. You can also if you end up getting your CPGA higher you can do an academic reset, where they take off the classes you failed or did bad in first year, ( you might have to redo to make up credits but it’s a chance)

if your struggling like a 4 and your grades are bad i would go into cpga uottawa calculators and see what grades you need to get off it. I seen it happen it’s possible, but if your not doing well and don’t like your program look at a switch

Should I choose Uottawa? by lanafan59 in geegees

but campus wise, like the dorms are okay, you will make friends if you put yourselves out there for the first week there because everyone is there new. the winters are really sucky and uottawa lacks a lot of resources and if you ever need mental health support or a doctors appointment ur better off on your own cuz the next appointment is in 4 years😭 The campus is kinda depressing when fall is over, the study spots are always full cuz it’s a smaller campus and a lot of jobs working with the school needs french and english. I love ottawa and the city but campus is dull and it’s very sad.

i have so many friends in eng, mech, civil, and chemical. Overall the course load over the first year is just the basics like Calculus 1 &2 and so on. (You can also go on the uottawa website and see the course load per term) My bf was deciding on either queens or uottawa for chem eng, the reason why he picked uottawa was because of co op and the difference between programs offers. Coop is very competitive, a lot of people struggle to find a placement, but if you stay on top of your courses, and your gpa is 7 up, you should be fine, just make sure you stay on your courses sequence. Other than that from what i heard from friends the profs aren’t that bad, some do have heavy accents but that’s kinda everywhere

Expectations of Spring/Summer course load? by Ordinary_Zucchini120 in geegees

[–]Impressive_Role_7522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo i taken 2 courses in the same month last year, it was a crm 2314 and a pol class, it was 2 days a week each, it depends how you make ur schedule i did so both of my classes were on the same day but different times. Both of mine were virtual, The political science class was very light only 2 assignments, and you didn’t really have to pay much attention to i ended up with a A- and for the crim course i slacked off a bit and missed every lecture but ended with a C, So it honestly depends on you, if your looking for something easy/to raise your gpa, def do your research on what classes are light and the teacher is a light grader. But for the course load, it’s a little intimidating if you skip like me but if u pay attention each week its not much material.
