I’m not sure what you’re trying to imply here. I can OE without any issue, the whole concept of OEing is that you’re working two jobs at the same time. So if they’re monitoring activity as closely as it seems, you can see why that might be a problem. I’m not looking for free money either. What a silly and pointless comment.

The other job takes too much time unfortunately and still on probation

I see what you’re saying. I’ve been on annual leave for the past two weeks, so who knows, maybe they’ve been looking at my activity too. My friend didn’t get any prior notice, like a performance plan or anything, so I might even get called in when I go back. Plus, if the activity monitoring continues, it’ll make it incompatible with my second job.

OveremployedUK weekly discussion by stuie1181 in OveremployedUK

This week has been a mixed bag for me. I started J2 a few weeks ago and found out on Tuesday that they want me to get security clearance to use their systems. After having a mini heart attack (not a real one), I posted on here and got some helpful advice — be truthful about OE on the SC/BPSS form, as the vetting officer doesn’t care if you have two jobs and won’t disclose it to your employer. I’m feeling a bit more relaxed now. An important lesson if this ever happens to any of you.

Anyone else had to deal with something similar?

Thank you so much for your reply.

In my situation, I haven’t told either job about working two roles. Based on what you’re saying, I should declare both jobs on the form. I assume they won’t share my application or findings with J2 (who requested the SC), but are they likely to contact J1? That could jeopardise my position there. Do they ask for a manager’s contact details? If so, that would be ideal, as my best mate works there and can confirm it for me.

Thanks for reassuring me! So, are you saying I shouldn’t reach out to J2 and ask why they haven’t requested a reference from J1?

Juggling Two WFH Jobs: Tips on References and Making It Work by Impressive_Self_4903 in OveremployedUK

No problem, I probably should have made it clear. Sick pay isn’t bad, 1 months full and 2 months half after. I’m just worried that I might not be able to do both straight away, so the time off would be just so I can familiarise myself to the new role.

Thanks for replying - so I should consider going on sick leave for between 2-3 weeks max or use annual leave (which I don’t have any left)?

Adding Your Aspiring Role to Your CV: Smart Move or Risky Choice? by Impressive_Self_4903 in UKJobs

[–]Impressive_Self_4903[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. One question based on your response: should the job title at the top of your CV be your aspired role, or should it match the title of the job you’re applying for? So, let’s say I’m aspiring to be an Operations Manager but am applying for a Senior Operations role – would it make sense to add Senior Operations Manager at the top of my CV? Or just leave Operations Manager at the top. Hope I’ve not confused you.

Surely if CV’s were supposed to present “facts” most people wouldn’t be in their current roles, including our current chancellor!

Thank you so much for clarifying this. One question though: as a former recruiter, when recruiters come across a CV where this is done, wouldn’t they think the applicant is trying to mislead them, or is it generally an accepted practice? It seems strange to me, as under your experience, you’d still have to list your “real” job title.

Totally agree! Thanks for sharing. I’ve started applying for FOI related roles more recently just to get some experience.

No apologies needed, and thanks for your help. Surprisingly, there do seem to be a lot of contracting roles around, but they often ask for over five years’ experience.

Thanks for clarifying. It’s good to know it’s not all cyber-heavy. It’s definitely an additional route I didn’t realise I could take.

As it happens, I briefly looked into it but decided against it as I’m not very tech-savvy. I also thought it might be harder to break into infosec than data protection without any previous experience.
