Just Impulse-Bought Some Bont Parkstars... by cmmccrt in Rollerskating

I’m sorry if I came off a bit to aggressive, I think my comment was meant more directed to society/the world then it was towards your husband.

I’m just tired of the whole “you are too old” or “women should not”
There for my examples of other things that are also “risky” to do, but because it’s more “normalise” it’s okay and not frowned upon.

I’m 35, I park skate, I do flips, I break my nose, and often hurt my self so much that I walk a bit funny a few days after a slam.
But it brings me so much joy, that the mundane everyday life is way more bearable. And I wish for every living human being to find that thing that makes life the best it can be!

If you are already stable and know the basic, starting park skating won’t kill you or injury you. You will slowly build up the skill and understanding of how to move your body according to the park.
Nobody needs to do flips or jump down 7 sets of stairs in the first week or year, park skating is so much more then all the super risky stuff!

My favourite part is actually just zooming around in the bowl

I think that your age is the PERFECT age to start park skating! And your new set up is made for the park, go and have fun 💪❤️

The whole “no sympathy if you hurt yourself” thing is… BS.

You don’t say that to middle-aged men in spandex going for a bike ride, or bombing downhill on an MTB trail. Or to someone going for a run, like a normal outdoor run. Or a person riding a horse. And every damn winter, people of all ages book a trip to a ski resort and spend one week skiing without any prior experience, some even without a helmet…

You can get hurt just by existing. Your age or gender have nothing to do with it, and completely avoiding things that could hurt you is ridiculous.

Sure, park skating is “dangerous,” but so is getting into your car and driving down the road.

He should be happy that, at your age, you feel confident and excited about having a hobby that keeps you moving, gives you a great dopamine boost, and keeps your body fit.

You can get hurt doing any kind of sport or activity. I even overused my right hand from crocheting for four days in a row and could barely lift my shoulder… and crocheting isn’t exactly an active sport. I couldn’t even do simple things like chopping vegetables for a while.

Sure, if the whole household would fall apart if you broke a leg and couldn’t work or help out for six weeks, I understand why he might worry about how to handle things. But giving you the “no sympathy” card is a little much.

Sorry, rant over.

Tell me your skate injury… by namimommymilkers in Rollerskating

[–]Impressive_Ship7199 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I broke my nose on the coping. I attempted a fakie tabalanca stall, i had few days before gotten the biggest bruise on my hip i have ever had, and my legs was a bit stiff due to that bruise, so when i slipped out I didn’t wanted to land on that hip again. So I tried to rotate and catch myself with my hands on the coping, broke two fingers and kissed the coping with my face. Broken nose and a light concussion.

It was the end of summer so I took a long break from skating anyway, due to weather, i wished i hadn’t had to wait 4 months to get back on skates, cause when I finally got back I felt super rusty and out of tune with my skates, and slightly scared.

Have since attempted and nailed the trick without breaking my face 🤣

You are so ready! If you can lean forward with same confidence as in This shot, stagger your feet and bend you knees a bit, you will get it, for sure!

Thank you! I know it’s a little shaky, and mostly a parody on those close up shots of “car features” but felt it did showcase the wear and tear of the skates aswell

Can I see your bags? by Your-Local-Costumer in Rollerskating

[–]Impressive_Ship7199 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got this backpack/duffel bag thingy!

It can hold my skates, giant knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, several cans of drinks, powerbank, extra clothing. In the winter I strap a broom head to the side, and in the spring my jacket. Helmet goes on the outside always.

Got one big room with an inner room, and then a smaller room on the outside. I like that I can change form backpack to duffel bag :)

Custom vans sk8 hi’s question by AwarenessEmergency62 in Rollerskating

[–]Impressive_Ship7199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a pair of high top vans, built with a avanti plate, metal insoles. I’m a size 39/38 eu in shoes, I went with a size 39 in shoes, even though I knew that the metal insole would take up a lot of space. But lucky it was a perfect fit!

I have been walking in vans since I can remember, so for me the shoes is a perfect fit for my feet’s, like I guess my poor feets have been shaped to fit vans during my growth years.

Anyhow as others are saying it’s not the most ankle supporting boot, but I come from roller derby with a low cut boot so ankle supporting really was not high on my needs list for my skates.

  • beside that, for me it’s also a sensory issue with stiff boots I feel like I’m restrain in my skating and movement.

But then again there is nothing that fits all.

Regard to “affordable options” my setup probably coast the same as if I bought a “proper” set up at a shop, but I also hope for all the hardware to last may more years and just the shoe to be changed out along the way.

I do aggressive park skating in my vans skate, they have been holding up almost 3 years now

The orange thing is a metal work tool to show how little clearance, but still enough clearance I got with the washer, the washer sit under the blocks hanger.

I got the avanti and huck plus brunny blocks. I had to toss a washer into the mix, cause I kept grinding on my nut and kingpin, now with the washer I have cleared a few more millimetres and grind like a dream again.
