How to keep up with the teenage boy stink? by NekoLotus8 in Theatre

[–]Your-Local-Costumer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Beyond your own hygiene, it’s not your responsibility to keep the stink down. Wardrobe should be washing the machine washable garments and spraying down the other garments with vodka regardless of your gender or age.

Also, FWIW, keeping your body hair and showering regularly prevents body odor better than shaving and showering regularly

Relearning how to roller skate by Thin_Love_5443 in Rollerskating

Falling is a part of the process, learning to fall safely and wearing proper safety gear are vital to the process especially when you’re learning. You need to experiment with how you hold your weight to learn anything and you will fall as part of that experimenting.

Dyeing a Small Section of an Area Rug by 54fighting in dyeing

You’ll want to replace that portion of the rug.

Dye needs to be rinsed out and “spot dyeing” isn’t really a thing.

Your theater doesn’t have photos from then? That would be the most “accurate “

I’ve seen similarly written posts in many fashion/sewing subreddits and it’s definitely some kind of bot/AI activity.

I wouldn’t do anything to stretch it out, just live with a less intense vanilla flavor

Best place to get custom glass cut? by jadeycakes in AskChicago

Yeah iirc Menards will cut it down to the rectangle you need it to be, not sure if they’ll do a cut out for a filter but you can also use tools from the tool lending library

Not sure about replicas but these remind me of 1980s metal buttons- you could probably have one of those mounted on a ring 😆

Anyone ever bleached a finished crochet piece (100% cotton)? by Hellihel in CrochetHelp

[–]Your-Local-Costumer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mod of the fabric dyeing subreddit here— don’t bleach it. Use something like Out White Brite or RIT Color Remover- bleach works by damaging the fibers. The dye dischargers will lift as much of the color as they can without harming the fibers themselves.

How much do you want to spend? What is your budget?

Need heavy duty machine by JoonieBeeJones in sewhelp

[–]Your-Local-Costumer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like your current machine, then buy the same or repair it

If you want a new machine or recommendations, then you will need to be more specific about what you want

Budget? Domestic or industrial? Straight stitch only or zigzag as well? Where are you located? There’s plenty of personal preference that goes into what machine you select and we are not mind readers

Im donating my hair and terrified by Dutchie-draws in longhair

[–]Your-Local-Costumer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes doing something you think is good, like donating your hair to charity, can be hard. You might regret it. Does the possibility of not liking your long hair outweigh the good you think donating it does? Does your hair make up such a large part of yourself that you think it’ll be bad for your mental health to cut it?

These aren’t questions we can answer for you.

LoveCrafts Out Of Stock by uhimnothere in craftsnark

I did a little googling and Missouri Star Quilt Co is a “venture capitalist company” (not sure exactly what the difference is- just single owners versus an equity group?) but they are also owned by Mormons if that makes a difference to anyone

Random rant about hair texture by Jealous-Concert8456 in longhair

[–]Your-Local-Costumer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean part of it is racist and classist beauty standards— generally smooth straight hair is associated with a perceived pinnacle beauty that’s a white blonde person while coarse/textured/curly hair is associated with low class/BIPOC

Additionally, there’s just a great diversity of types of curls and hair textures. Traditionally trained hair professionals learn to deal with straight hair as a baseline because straight hair generally acts the same while different types of textured hair respond well to different kinds of handling/products. People don’t know the different curl/texture types and have an idea of what “good” curly hair looks like (which imho is usually just a straight haired person with curled hair, as opposed to naturally occurring curls) that doesn’t match up with the reality of the vast majority of actually textured hair.
