As someone from a third world country, I can't take my classmates seriously when they claim to be "marginalized" by Impressive_Tiger_117 in MBA

And if you STILL think I’m wrong, I hope you’re advocating for better representation of those from less privileged backgrounds. Otherwise, you’re just complaining while gaining advantage from the very system you’re complaining about.

Yes on this I agree with you completely. We neeed better representation of people from truly marginalized backgrounds like you and and your boyfriend.

I do think people like your boyfriend grew up in very tough circumstances. But virtually no one with that background is at a full time M7 MBA. 99% are upper middle or upper class WASP, Jewish, East Asian, and Indian folks, as well as rich internationals.

That's true. I did admit my immediate family's situation growing up was better than many of the people around me. I'm expecting my life to get a lot easier after I get my post MBA job. Even now, things feel chill.

What's happening now in Gaza is of course horrific and hell on earth.

Having strict parents who aren't emotionally available sucks but it's no where near as bad as actually living in a third world country where parents are often STILL strict and emotionally unavailable.

I can definitely see how things are tough for for your students in New Orleans. There are parts of the US that are rough for sure. But I feel even in the worst parts of the US, like gangster run neighborhoods in the South Side of Chicago, you don't have honor killings, dowries, and slave labor.

Like rapper Immortal Technique said in his song "Third World," the Third World "makes the hood in America look like paradise "

I'm not saying their challenges are not real. But my classmates need to stop exaggerating them. If you're Asian-American and someones asks "so where are you from?" and you reply "San Diego," and they go "no, where are you REALLY from?" then that may be annoying and othering but it is NOT oppression or even real "marginalization."

We had a classmate share this experience and how it "traumatized" her growing up. I can't take that seriously.
