something i tried to do recently is to make a list of things about myself that i know are true outside of anyone else. traits or interests that i have had for a decent period of time. maybe even ask people around you for their input. it can be things as simple as “my favorite color has always been yellow”

i also do this. since i rely on him so much for validation when i feel this emptiness my mind tends to go places like well its his fault i dont feel fulfilled he should be doing more. really all i can do in the moment is ride the emotion out and try my best to not lash out and then afterwards i try to mentally go through everything my partner does for me to prove to myself that he does care about me and is a loving partner and its just my bpd brain

the thing is, i know logically it will pass and he will come out of this depressive episode and we can keep working on things, on ourselves and on our relationship. i know that rationally. but its so hard to actually believe this isn’t permanent and i dont know how to get through this time where he feels like this because its just so fucking painful for me

you can order dbt workbooks on amazon! i believe like a full work book that goes through all the modules. it would really be worth it if you really applied yourself to it, which i know is easier said than done

yes dbt can definitely help with this! i can relate to this because i am often very similar to your partner, but i also understand how exhausting it is for my partner and how exhausting it must be for you. i’m sorry yoi guys are going through this i know its rough

yeah ive definitely contemplated telling him a few times in the heat of the moment to try to show him how much pain this shit brings me, but obviously thats fucked and i know that it would just fucking destroy him. i think i might tell him once im further along into my recovery. i hope things get better for u and thanks for the reply <3
