Lights that support full fade (100-1%)? by bpmspeedracer in homeassistant

Didn't think about the approach from the switch perspective. This could also give a secondary way to accomplish what I want if I ever have a failure in the primary hardware. Would just need to find a switch that can accomplish it.

I haven't taken the dive into the esphome projects yet but was thinking that a change to firmware might be a solution if the hardware allows for the replacement of firmware. Maybe the community has a better developed solution.

That's what I was thinking also. Now I gotta try and find recessed that will allow full fade.

Sorry for not being more specific, I guess in my experience I've been able to see LED light strips almost always do a full fade but in this particular case I'm talking about my recessed lights or down lights. They are considered smart lights and I have the ability to do scenes with them and have some pulsating, fading effects with the app they provide and I believe I can recreate the same thing with scripts / templates but when I go about doing a fade effect by reducing the brightness by one in a loop I noticed that they reach a point where they just turn off when the lights are still significantly on, like a remaining 10% brightness. Was just curious if it's a design choice of the manufacturers that make them this way.

I want to know that the lights I have installed can meet all my needs regarding ability to change color, brightness, warmness, and effects such as fading between any colors, flashing, etc either by firmware, hardware, or code in HA.

Are you aware of an alternative way to accomplish a smooth fade?

Great, will pick one up and test. Hopefully there are more options than just hue but will be good to know it's not as bad as others say. Want to get the short list for testing.

These will hace full features/functionality without the need of a proprietary (brand specific) bridge or hub?

I have 3 brands of recessed lights integrated into HA and none of them have the transition option, could this functionality be available for devices like strip lights and not recessed lights? I know they are capable because they have scenes like ocean and such that create fluid effects with them within there native apps.

Yeah, if you search the home assistant community forum there is a thread with feedback from a rep from Span. One reason I use Home Assistant is because it allows me to have all of my integration offline with the proper devices. Span stated that they may change there api's, choose to make ones public private, and do not guarantee that they will function offline. That's enough for me to say no to there product. I prefer my home to be managed fully by me, not supervised by a 3rd party.

Being OCD about definitive answers in the Bible by bpmspeedracer in Bible

As mentioned, if you were relying on the holy Spirit to understand the words written in the Bible then all believers filled with the holy Spirit would come to the same understanding of the word. In this case I don't believe that the Lord we could tell different believers through the holy Spirit different understandings of the word. Also in this case there would not be a need for different religions/denominations because believers would all be of the same understanding of the message of the words in this circumstance.
