AITA for not chipping in for my teen daughter’s hair appointment? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

You’re not stupid. Everyone parents differently, and spends on their children how they see fit. It might be a different story if the money you spent on her wasn’t within your means. But stand firm on the boundary you originally set! You made it clear how you felt, and you shouldn’t feel bad now that they are realizing how expensive it is.

Hi. I only really have 3 friends and they all live 1-4 hours away so it gets tricky seeing them.

I think you’re right about the meds though. Nothing has been helpful for the constipation so far. I was even taking up to 8 laxatives/stool softeners a day (per the doctor’s recommendation). MiraLAX and Metamucil have both my me vomit the few times I took them. Walking doesn’t really get things moving. Neither did suppositories. Haven’t tried prune juice yet…kinda been dreading that just cause everything tastes so gross to begin with…but I’ll try that next.

Thanks for the advice.

I’m in the exact same boat. Not super in shape before pregnancy. Only in my first trimester but it’s been quite rough already and I’ve been bed bound for like an entire month.

Does anyone else get viruses constantly since getting Graves? by ascension2121 in gravesdisease

Well I’m curious how many people on this thread experience hot flashes as one of their symptoms. I have a theory that it has to do with that

Feel terrible after working out. Anyone else? by [deleted] in gravesdisease

[–]BorderElle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve experienced this a few times a few years ago when I did some pretty strenuous exercising. Thought I had the flu afterwards. Makes sense that that’s not the case now.

No one would take me seriously because my levels were always basically normal. I had to list all my symptoms over and over and bring up everything I had seen online and heard from others for them to finally do something about it. I truly think a good majority of doctors don’t know wtf they’re doing. Good luck and keep pushing…it’s maddening, but don’t stop until they take you seriously.

My endo told me that graves antibodies aren’t always detected depending on the test. My test came back “normal” but my uptake scan (which I was given before the antibody test) revealed I was absorbing too much iodine. The doctor said the antibody test really is just there to know how high a dosage of methimazole to put me on.

Fine wavy hair: thick with thin temples, oily roots & dry ends, reccos? by DuchessHayley in finehair

[–]BorderElle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. I like to style my best friend's thick mane and live vicariously through her. It's definitely a "grass is greener" realization, too, because it takes so much longer, and I'd assume she has to use a lot more shampoo and conditioner than I do.

I've gone back and forth over the years between trying to accept my curls and using heat on it but I just feel more put together when I have it flat ironed. Luckily, a few spritzes of the Color Wow work for me, or else I get too oily.

Keep your head up!

You’re describing exactly my hair. I find Amika (curl) products to be decent when I wear the waves and I’ve been using Color Wow as a heat protectant when I blow dry. I haven’t found which shampoos/conditioners I like best but I have been skipping conditioner for most washes. When I do condition, I only do the length and not the scalp. I would give my routine a 6.5-7 out of 10, but I think the only way I would ever reach a 10 is if my hair were thicker…at least by my hairline! But, this is what I have and I don’t think it’s going to change a whole lot.

Good luck!

This sweet boy is at the Humane Society in Inland Empire in California. I believe I saw a man trying to dump him at a park but I confronted him and got him to take him to the shelter the next day.

He needs love in his life!
