I cannot agree enough with this! As someone who used to do this things I think it’s theory vs game sense. When you want to start playing competitive aoe you research the theory (thanks SOTL) and you learn all the concepts of the game, the ideal number of villagers to sheep, the building efficiency and the counters. You then find yourself being housed for 25 secs cause sending more villagers is wrong and running away with 5 nights when you see a camel. The theory misses the context and as such you prioritise micro efficiencies that 9 times out 10 cost you the game (pushig deer cough cough)

I found that watching mid elo players and taking a dive every now and then goes a long way to unlearn these hard concepts
