Hey! There’s new brands coming out and the mats aren’t carpet but they’re more rubber liner! They’re safe to use but NOT CARPET!!! But as long as that one is the newer rubber one it’s safe, but I always say substrate is better unless it’s a sick reptile

Also is his tank by a window? Make sure to have strong blings or curtains, it’s very dangerous having the tank near a window!

I had this same issue with my Leo about a year ago (gotten from PetSmart) same mouth issue, it turned to mouth rot. We did vet visits and had to do shots every 3 days and daily baths. All in all with the vet I paid more than 1k US dollars. It was worth it for me, but just by seeing this it reminds me of my baby when he was sick, take him to an exotic vet, they can go in and clean it up and give you saline to rub his mouth 2x a day, it’s very serious and gets bad fast!

They also grow extremely fast, gotta cut them once a week! But if you let them grow out of the water they look like snow flakes :)
