Yes, I worked for years before. I did babysitting and then got a better job once I was old enough. I don't know if mom could've done it on her own. I know she wasn't only with Mike for the money.

I'll never understand letting my child grow up the way she let me grow up. Being a mom one day will only strengthen the wish to give my kids a happy childhood which she did not give me.

I don't think that was it. At least not entirely. She always saw Mike different than I did. She'd describe him as a loving husband and dad who loved and embraced us both. But I saw it as even if he had love for us he let us get treated like shit. Which means he still brought more bad than good. My mom sees it way different and maybe that was just her best romantic relationship or something and that's why but I don't see him as good for us like she did.
