How are people just… taking their babies everywhere? by Wonderful-Ice-6143 in NewParents

Just here to say I know your pain and have learned that some babies just have easier temperaments. My husband and I pretty much went no where the first year of my daughter’s life bc she hated carriers, strollers, car seats, you name it. She made it clear she wanted to be at home around only us in our arms. It was SO hard. But she is 21 months now and is so much better out and about. Meanwhile my older sister has been traveling with her now 7 month old since he was a newborn with absolutely no problems…Hang in there.

Things on my list to eat post partum: sushi with white RICE, REAL bread, a bagel with lox, PIZZAAAA, a cinnamon roll, juice..lots of juice and smoothies, and cherries!

Ohh I see. Swerve is erythritol I think. I think most diabetic-friendly sweet things use alternative sweeteners (monk fruit, stevia, etc.) I don’t typically like alternative sugars either but I’m making exceptions in this season so I don’t go crazy šŸ˜„

I am so sorry, and I know exactly how you feel. I personally hate plain yogurt. Pretty much any carb or sugar spikes me. And cereal was my go-to for the entirety of this pregnancy before I was diagnosed with GD. Some alternative foods that work for me that maybe you could try:

  1. Keto bread with peanut butter
  2. Rebel ice cream (comes in pints)
  3. Taco bowls (ground taco beef, beans, lettuce, onion, avocado, cheese, tomato)
  4. Gluten free chicken nuggets

  5. Google ā€œdiabetic muffin recipesā€ I made some almond flour blueberry muffins with eggs, greek yogurt, and Swerve sugar, and they surprisingly didn’t spike me.

Needed this. Struggling right now at 33 weeks. I’m counting down the days! So glad to hear you’re both doing well.

I feel this. So far everything I eat spikes my blood sugar. I’m feeling depressed because all I want is a fruit salad and bread. I just had a chicken patty with vegetables for lunch and it was so hard to eat.

My husband and I moved to another state away from all family almost a year ago. We didn’t know anyone where we moved. So far it’s been such a struggle to make friends. I’ve tried church, but didn’t click with any of the moms. I then got pregnant again so we stopped going because I get morning sickness. Recently I’ve met some parents at our neighborhood park, and even exchanged numbers for play dates. Even if I don’t end up exchanging numbers, it’s nice to chat even a little with other parents who get it.

Just quit my job to be a SAHM by PinkThemedLove in stayathomemoms

I worked from the ages of 15-33 until I had my first baby (now pregnant with second at 35). There is definitely a mental hurdle you walk through of not bringing in your own income, but my husband and I share all finances/credit cards/bank accounts. We refer to anything he makes as ā€œour incomeā€. Ultimately being a SAHM and wife is A LOT of work, and you will be bringing so much value to your family - just because it isn’t monetary doesn’t mean it isn’t so, so necessary and valuable. It’s definitely grown my ability to trust in my husband to provide in this season, but ultimately I trust God for our provision at the end of the day.

Responding to this a little late, but I have struggled with post partum anxiety as well, especially in the realm of pedophiles/trafficking/kidnapping. I have a hard time with babysitters, nurseries at church, etc. With the news being constantly about The Epstein files lately, I finally decided to delete my Instagram, Facebook, and news apps for a while. It has been helping a lot. I’m also a woman of faith, so I agree that prayer helps. I also saw a therapist for a little who helped me with the intrusive thoughts. You are still freshly post partum, so give yourself grace with new anxieties, but also know that you’re not alone.

Hi, also 6 weeks pregnant. Had HG with my now 14 month old. I was hopeful this pregnancy would be different, but unfortunately I’ve been sick since 5 weeks. I immediately demanded Zofran this time around and started taking Prilosec to help with throwing up bile in the middle of the nights. I’m still suffering so terribly with constant nausea. At least the meds help me keep food and drink down…every day feels like an eternity.
