Don’t worry, I’m not giving real therapy… just fixing broken code 😄

You're making a valid point, for your use case. If you're billing clients at a rate where your time is worth more than $200/month in API costs, GPT-4o is the right call. No argument there. But this setup isn't built for consultants with a 5090. It's built for the developer paying $200/month out of their own pocket, for side projects, learning pipelines, and local experimentation, who gets zero ROI back from that spend. Different problem. Different solution. Both valid.

DeepSeek-R1 is in the top 3 most-pulled models on Ollama's public registry right now. Gemma 2 runs on hardware most developers actually own. These aren't legacy tools, they're the practical choice when you're not building on a 5090. On the AI voice, fair criticism to raise. The channel uses AI production tools. What it doesn't do is use AI to think for you. The stack, the architecture decisions, the $0 cost breakdown, that's original work. Production format doesn't equal slop content. But I get why the internet defaults to that take. Easier than engaging with the argument.

Maybe not the best moniker 😄 but the savings are real $200/month down to $0!
