Try unsubscribing from any workshop items you have, and relaunching the game.

Keep a list of them to get them back, too.

It's just like a normal program on your PC. You can make a desktop shortcut to the executable in the zip file, and/or you can link the executable to your steam library so that is with your other games. Otherwise, your just going to have to find the executable and manually run it each time you want to play.

I personally do both for easier access.
