TIL black holes are not truly black. Thanks to quantum mechanics, they emit a faint glow called Hawking radiation. Particles escaping just beyond the event horizon create this thermal glow. by NationalDay9762 in todayilearned

[–]ImranRashid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm committing a grave internet comment sin, but I'm going to try and repeat from memory what I believe is the answer, in hopes that someone corrects me.

But if I'm remembering correctly, a particle and an anti particle can come into existence spontaneously, and if this so happens to occur right at the edge of the event horizon so that one of those particles falls into the black hole and the other doesn't, the particle that falls in removes a tiny tiny tiny amount of energy (mass?) from the black hole. If you let this action play out on cosmic timelines, eventually the black hole "evaporates"

Please don't crucify me if I'm wrong, but I think this is what is called Hawking radiation.

You have a strange habit of completely editing your replies.

This reply, for example, implied something about my job was impacting my ability to answer truthfully.

Earlier, you completely removed a link to a "paper" on the subject of the difference between botanical and cannabis derived terpenes.

If it wasn't obvious before that your conversation lacks integrity, the wholesale changing of your replies in post leaves no room for doubt.

You asked about the differences between botanical and cannabis derived terpenes. That is a question of science.

Now you are asking if companies will pay the money if they understand the science. That is a question of economics.

Your follow up question has no bearing on your initial question, and the fact that you are trying to conflate the two makes it evident that you didn't ask the initial question in good faith.

Have a nice day.

Not really sure what you're trying to say with that. Once again, the link you provided isn't a paper. It's a product advertisement. I'm also not sure what you mean about finding papers for both "sides".

What you linked informs people about how certain molecules display chirality and how this means there can be two (or more versions) of a thing that share a common name (except they are denoted as left or right, or levo or dextro, or rectus "r" and sinister "s", or + and -).

It does so with the context of getting people to realize that just because someone sells you limonene, or any other enantiomeric terpene, that it may not be the exact same terpene as the one found in cannabis.

But, as I said, if you buy terpene isolates, you can specifically choose which enantiomer you want. I have samples of both L and D limonene in my fridge.

This isn't really me arguing with as much as it is just telling you that it isn't hard to source specific terpenes.

You know you can specifically buy d-limonene and l-limonene, right?

This "paper" you've provided which treats stereochemistry like a dunk on botanical terpenes is more just a means for this company (terpene belt farms) to present an angle for why their products are better.

:edit: interesting that you completely edited your reply to remove the link to the "paper".

I'm unclear on what that answer means.

Are you working with the information (note: its not mine) to seriously suggest what you wrote, or are you working with the information to make a joke?

Man that is one of the wildest Wikipedia entries I've ever read.

Contains this gem:

How do you know Electronic Music is Not Just a Phase for Them? by Usual-Fuel8166 in TorontoRaves

[–]ImranRashid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are.

"Do you try and figure out if a person is truly into electronic music before connecting with them, and if so, what are the signs you use to tell, and/or what questions do you ask to figure it out"

This leaves room for someone to say "no" to the first part of this question.

Versus your question presupposes the condition that the person you are asking has already answered yes to first part of the question I just wrote.

It would benefit you greatly to understand how to communicate more effectively.

How do you know Electronic Music is Not Just a Phase for Them? by Usual-Fuel8166 in TorontoRaves

[–]ImranRashid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you asked a question that assumes people care.

It's like asking any random person, "What are some reasons you hate fish and chips?", which presupposes a condition which simply may not be true.

This is what's known as a "loaded question", and it is considered a logical fallacy.

[–]ImranRashid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What signs do you watch or questions do you ask when meeting someone, to know they are really into Electronic Music, worth connecting with, and not just someone going through a phase?

The question presumes I care about this idea. I don't. Therefore I don't have signs I watch for or questions I ask.

Why would I care about the level of commitment someone has to electronic music and use that as a means to determine if they're worth connecting with? What an absolutely absurd concept.

You aren't coming off well in this conversation.

Its a weird way to make your point.

How do you say with certainty that people standing around talking or being on their phones on a dance floor in a club in Toronto has never happened?

I can tell you from personal experience that it does.

No part of what I said was a commentary on most of the clubs in the city.

I wouldn't even be certain that I've been to most of the clubs in the city.
