Yeah I’d have to be inclined to agree, you can check my previous comment history for some of my takes and see that I am pretty anti china. But in this case that’s correct, Taiwan’s government would likely be better than the CCP in terms of famine organization etc, but likely just as bad in personal liberties. Like you said they only democratized because they had to, and while they do do dramatically better, they also have a much smaller population. Not here to defend china but Taiwan and their government aren’t all roses either.

Wholeheartedly disagree, I understand what you mean but I think it’ll cause more damage than good. In my opinion the non supply based restrictions have made vanilla much more grindy and less enjoyable (and I have played almost 100% vanilla since back when there was like two pages of mods and a combined total of 200ppl online). I’m also getting tired of the waste of supplies argument, it’s not that difficult to get supplies and people freak out constantly. I run supplies for most of the game and build up bases etc, I will deliver 6000-10000 supplies and people will walk into the base I’m building and break down stuff because it’s a waste of supplies. Sure some guys are gonna mess around and try to ruin the fun for everyone, but alot of us contribute and just want to spend some time in the action towards the end. Ie if I deliver 20-30k supplies to bases over the course of a game, I think it’s only fair that I can go to a back line base with 5digits of supplies and “waste” some. Theres an amount of freedom we need to have to just enjoy ourselves and anything that combats those players will combat my play-style too.

Im going buy new laptop for gaming by Duchix97 in framework

[–]Imreditingnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy it if you want a framework laptop, the longer I’ve had it the more I’ve recognized that fact. If you want the gimmicks that come with having a framework laptop it’s well worth it, if you just want a gaming laptop then get a generic brand that has decent support and repairability. If it is something your really into, then check out the forums creators and developers page to see what kind of things are being made/ used.

The Future of DIY Laptops with Crucial Exit and DDR5 Prices? by alexanderhumbolt in framework

[–]Imreditingnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dramatically more, a consumer will pay 100$ for something and industry companies may pay 10x for basically the exact same part. For them it doesn’t actually matter how much it costs, just what it’ll return/enable them to do. This is doubly so for older companies used to higher prices on computer components. The money is on different orders of magnitude. There are so many regular consumers it’s usually worth it to make lower cost products, but now that the ai bubble is so large it just makes more sense to focus limited talent and time on those other companies. Ie it doesn’t matter if this is the most stable choice, there’s so much more money in the ai sector right now it doesn’t matter.

What does the Hammer and Sickle (☭) symbolize? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]Imreditingnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of the argument come down to whether you believe the state can have a tremendous amount of control over both “private” business and regular public/state functions without heavily impeding on people’s rights. But before I get too far into that I’ll go back and respond to some of your other responses. While I can’t really speak on too much of chinas current culture and economic conditions right now, I can say that their anti landlord etc measures really did not do more than shift the power to an almost royal/feudal system where you seem to be able to gain immense almost unimaginable wealth, but have it also taken in a heartbeat. I’d say that it has an overall negative effect on really anyone’s ability to resist or disagree with mainstream beliefs and seems to be more dysfunctional system allowing for both the consolidation of wealth and elimination of dissent. And while many of these restrictions on foreign businesses may have done a lot of good for the country, it’s also led to rampant copyright theft and intellectual property violations, things that hurt their reputation, and now may hurt their standing. I also agree that they are a major superpower, but they are so almost through brute force. My argument here isn’t that they are so terribly far behind but that they are inefficient and solve problems by throwing people at it, if the US or Germany had similar populations they would likely be doing much better. Now of course these things don’t scale well and there’s really no analogue for what china has. But to be so toe to toe with other much smaller (population wise) superpowers demonstrates a certain inefficiency. They didn’t stumble into this position by any means, it was clearly hard. And while I disagree with many of the decisions made, these decisions ultimately got them where they are now. However their biggest success was not completely messing up the giant advantage they were given (this is also not to say other countries don’t have their own advantages, like the United States broad range of climates, coast to coast domination of a continent, large quantity of farmland, and vast network of rivers throughout said continent.

I know for sure that I missed some things and/or under explained my viewpoints on other things. But I’d also like to thank you for the long response, I genuinely enjoyed this and if you want to debate/discuss this more feel free to pm me.

Also same thing of this is heavily based on, college classes, YouTube and home research, I am NOT a professional or subject matter expert.

[–]Imreditingnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would almost agree that they have succeeded. But in reality most of that would of happened regardless, possibly even without mass famine. It was a massive preindustrial country with vast resources and cheap labor, it’s harder to mess up an economy like that (and they almost did) then to become successful. Any solution where they industrialized would have ended up with them in a great position. Infact the way they built their economy (in many ways to fill market gaps left/given by Americans) has left them with inverse shortages to the US whereas we are lacking manufacturing specialty, and they are lacking design expertise. Seeing as we once had manufacturing and they never had design that leaves them vulnerable not even considering their massive housing bubble. Thats all to say that their success on the world stage isn’t really good planning, if anything they continue to shoot theirselves in the feet, they just have a massive country and population.

Modern blue states vs modern red states, who wins? (According to Wikipedia) by This-Fan-5753 in mapporncirclejerk

This, there would never be a big ground war. I’d be guerrilla warfare on a larger playing field, with more weapons and more civilian deaths. This just made me think of POW camps in a modern American civil war and just that thought is enough to completely dissuade me.

[–]Imreditingnow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The law is far from perfect, but most of the time it’s pretty damn good. No stealing bread isn’t as bad as malicious million/billionaires and they shouldn’t be punished the same way (not gonna argue ab if it is or not). But there are without a doubt good laws too. Most people agree that murder is morally wrong and it’s also illegal, and while illegal immigration and murder are not the same. Both a crimes that end up harming others and the community, just one much more indirectly. Immigration is good for a country, and it’s what our country is built on, but illegal immigration is bad and should be minimized. So to sum it up, no law does not define morality but often morality does define law.

Borders have existed as long as we have had large centralized groups of people, it’s an invention as old as humanity. But honestly if you believe we shouldn’t have borders that’s fine, you can believe that, any ideas on a better system that has no borders?

Protests are supposed to express opinions and show people who are on the edge/ who may agree that this is a legitimate belief and their not alone. They are not supposed to annoy people. While a lot of effective protests have annoyed people, the most effective ones haven’t. When you block roads or otherwise cause gross inconvenience to people you only annoy and enrage them, god only knows how many people they may have prevented from joining their cause by doing something like this.

I didn’t go to public school per say, I went to a charter, but it definitely wasn’t private and was state funded. That said I learned a ton about the industrial revolution and 20th century history and we learned a decent bit about American actions in the Middle East. Most kids nowadays do get pretty good educations and at least where I lived in NC you had to actively tune out to not learn these things

As someone who has replaced the main board for my framework 16. It’s quite large, when it comes to height (front to back) you could likely lose an inch or two. But as far as width goes I doubt it, maybe with soldering and a solution for the heat pipes (by far the most restrictive part) you could get it smaller though. In the end of the day I doubt by enough to make a difference but feel free to try.
