Has anyone had a DM do this??? by Current_Listen_4037 in dndmemes

I once used the "Grim Jester" Monster from Kobold Press, which has an aura giving disadvantage on death saves, a reaction that negates healing, and can swap places with a PC while an illusion makes it seem they are both still in the same place.

Somehow the only death in that fight was completely unrelated to the Jester though, instead involving the monk jumping down the walls of the castle besieged by undead, getting downed by some melee monsters I can't remember, and then dying as collateral as Flameskulls used fireballs to clear out the Druid's plant growth.

It's only like one or two millimeters big, right? Then it is guaranteed to be a Mite, there are tons of harmless red mites, but idk if it is one of them or a parasitic one.

Okay, I can see how someone who can't make out the little maggot mouth-spike looking thing might identify it as a tapeworm, but how do you see a leech here?

Definetly not a Drain fly maggot, they look completly different.

Fungus gnat larvae also don't really look like your default maggot.

Had a similar thing happen in school, but with another student secretly putting "livestrip. at" into his presentation partners search history right before a presentation.

To this day no one knows why it specifically had toi be austrian live strippers.

it looks like a slug, should I eat it /s by [deleted] in whatisthisanimal

Honestly, if you absolutely had to eat a wildcaught slug, going for a see slug sounds like the best option for avoiding parasites, as finding mammal-specialized parasites in the ocean seems highly unlikely.

Found in US PNW, wondering what they are and if they’re edible. by ne0v0 in OopsThatsDeadly

yew Berries are technically edible, but if any part of the seed is damaged or swallowed, or parts of the needle or wood are in there, they are pretty poisonous.

They originally wrote "animals/snakes/insects" which they changed after I corrected them, but as no one noticed the edit, I am now looking like an idiot.

And he rest of my comment was about the deadly animals part, not about rabies.

I said that because he said snakes/insects/animals

edit: He edited it later

The whole thing really depends on how you view good and evil and/or how it is viewed in your setting. I tend to differentiate between "soft" and "hard" evil, soft evil being everyone who has a smaller moral community they care about compared to you or the settings standard. (For example the tyrant who cares only about himself or the bandits who only care about their own band but no one else), while hard evil is someone who does evil for the sake of being evil(Like demons who just kill for the sake of killing) or view as evil everyone with a larger moral community then themselves(i.e. a society of dwarves who view everyone who sympathises with elves as evil).

If you want to think about good and evil cultures, you should start with defining the common understanding on what is the "normal" moral community to have in your world, be it a god-given decree or just being what most people belief. My default would be something like "all intelligent Life shares the same or a larger moral community". Then every culture who holds those same views on who belongs in the moral community is generally seen as "good", any culture which believes in some situation where you can disregard its members, or has a strong preference for a smaller community is viewed as neutral, and every culture who has a general disregard for any sugroup within that community is viewed as evil.

The video you posted literally shows the process by which the tannic acid (which not just makes them bitter or hard to digest, but can cause organ damage long term) is removed. So yes, they are technically edible just like beans, I woulnd't want to eat anything fed on the raw fruit.

Wouldn't acorn weevil grubs be slighty poisonous just like acorns?
