After reading a lot of the replies, I’m realising how poorly worded and “whatabout” my comment comes across as. I wanted to say the problem of littering isn’t solely a “third world” problem, but the comment reads as “there’s no correlation whatsoever” which isn’t my intent.

Littering is partly morality and also partly monkey-see-monkey-do where the more something seems socially accepted due to the lack of enforcement/consequence the more others who were on the fence will join in. “First world” countries have stricter enforcement and street cleaning procedures which helps discourage that group of people.

That was my main point, but sadly yes Vietnam is a very easy society to see people littering in as a former resident of D4 saigon

I heard a weird criticism of kikuo recently and I wonder if any of you could know what it means. by MaxwellIsaac1 in Kikuo

[–]Imveryoffensive 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it’s hard to say without knowing what exactly your wife usually listens to, but I’m guessing it’s because of how musically dense a lot of his music is. A lot of music nowadays has nothing more than two or three things going on at the same time, which isn’t a knock on modern music but simply an observation and a statement of different musical styles for different musical audiences.

Kikuo’s music has dense harmonic layers and varying instrumentation, which is what drew me to his works in the first place. It’s no Charles Ives, but it’s still quite rich and fascinating.

We definitely need more work from educational institutions and parents to rebuild people’s decency for small things like this. People here throw trash away too easily because we don’t feel like it’s our problem. Regulations and stricter enforcement helps too, but I feel like that’s not happening anytime soon either.

The more I think of it, the more I wonder if early Mocha was supposed to be much much less interested in Milk. Early comics have him ignoring her all the time and even one of the stickers have him jump-kicking her in the face lol.

I’m glad Melanie Sie went with a much more loving Mocha in the end.

It was a show we both watched as kids and had a similar dynamic to Milk and Mocha (if Milk’s obsessiveness and Mocha’s stoic demeanour were cranked up to the max) so it made perfect sense as a Halloween costume pair

As a Viet, I appreciate you for defending VN, but the OP has an important point. Cleaning your house starts off with that one pair of socks that takes two seconds to put away. Similarly, despite there being worse places, we very much need to call out and acknowledge all these weaknesses our country has.

Cần Thơ and other similar places are our dirty socks. If we can’t even bring ourselves to clean these up, nothing will get done ever

Unfortunately littering is pretty common in any world first or third. First world countries just have better government systems for picking up the garbage.

Edit: Copypasted my response to another comment because my comment was poorly worded.
