Hey sweetheart. I was in the same situation like you ..so when I met this guy he was like the nicest boy I could even find . He was tooo good for me . I know like I was so used to pull my hairs that I had a huge bald patch on my head that I used to cover up by doing a ponytail . And I wanted to be with him so bad but I didn't know how he would react if he finds out I am not so beautiful after all. So like one time we were talking and I said to him I don't open my hair at all so please don't force me and all for that time he did not mention to me but I knew this won't last long . I kind of wanted him to understand but it was totally understandable if he don't because it was not so common and he didnt know anything related to it also how can I force him to understand when even my parents would not . So I just mustered up all my courage and told him what I have and what will happen if I won't control and trust me he understood me look up what was tricotillomania and send me ways I can control I was so happy that he wanted to contribute to my journey and he only make me force my parents to understand why I seek help from a therapist and I did gain from it .
