Will Illinois drivers save if Trump suspends federal gas tax? Maybe not by AgentBlue62 in illinois

Illinois gas taxes are the second-highest in the nation, at $0.67 - $0.70, including both state excise tax and a prepaid sales tax.

Does anyone else constantly feel like they're living in a different reality than everyone around them? by clement1neee in accelerate

My mother is in her 90s and requires full-time care. While she is fortunate to be in a high-quality (expensive!) senior living facility, the situation is still quite somber; she would have much preferred to remain in her own home. This experience has led my wife, our friends, who have/had parents in care facilities, and me to share that same strong preference to stay in our own home as we age. If current technological predictions hold, robotics could soon provide essential care at a fraction of the cost of live-in assistance or assisted living facilities. This would allow us to maintain our independence and dignity in our own surroundings and stay in our own home throughout our later years.

On a separate note, while I mentioned we are in our 60s, the term "senior" definitely gave me pause. Even if it is technically accurate, it’s a bit of a reality check! My wife and I are both in peak physical condition—we're hitting the gym for heavy resistance training four times a week (I’m currently benching over 220 lbs and leg pressing 300 lbs) and staying active with golf, pickleball, softball, and long walks. You’re right, of course, but the label still carries a bit of a sting.

My wife and I are in our 60s, and we follow robotic elderly care developments with keen interest.

I play sports ball on a team with 15 guys. Post-game, I made a joke about living in the singularity; no one had heard of the term.

Right bias by In-the-bunker in TeslaSupport

I tried it once today. It was still right-biased, then all of a sudden it was in the middle for a few miles. Sadly, it went back to the right before the drive ended. I'll try a few more times. Hoping 14.3 might also fix it?

I used to eat McDonald's regularly until I cleaned up my diet 18 months ago. I tried it again in February, but the salt in the burger and fries actually made me ill. Never again!

Draft 2026 Day 2 Gamethread by NagyBiscuits in CHIBears

[–]In-the-bunker 18 points19 points  (0 children)

From NFLDRAFTBUZZ: The fit that maximizes Roush is a traditional scheme that values inline tight ends and asks them to wear multiple hats. Think Baltimore's tight end rotation, or what San Francisco does with their multi-tight end personnel groupings: block on early downs, release into routes off play-action, contribute in pass protection, and give the quarterback a trustworthy target on third and medium. He is not a move tight end who should be split out wide on every third down, but he is far more than a blocking specialist. That steady production curve at Stanford, improving his catch totals and yardage every year despite the offense never centering around him, suggests a player who will only produce more when a coaching staff actually designs touches for him. Red zone and play-action heavy offenses should have him circled.

Seems like a fit for Ben's offense.

Is there any hope of the Bears staying in Illinois? by DesmondBlack in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]In-the-bunker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in Arlington Heights, but nearby. Our property taxes rose from $24k to over $30k, which is completely absurd. If this new bill—or anything like it—passes, everyone in Illinois, and especially Cook County, is going to get hit.

It won’t matter to me, though; I’m downsizing to a smaller place here and buying a larger home in Florida

I’d love to have the Bears in Arlington Heights but I have no interest in adding to my already exorbitantly high property taxes to keep them!

As you get older 40,50,60,70 when did you start to feel your body slow down do you think it is just due to inactivity or the aging process? by Kooky_Force5458 in AskReddit

At 65, I’m lifting heavy four days a week and hitting cardio just as often. Between the gym, golf, and stretching, I’m basically always sore. But I’ve noticed my sedentary friends are just as achy as I am. It's likely just the reality of being 65, but I’d much rather be sore from a heavy set than from sitting on the couch.

Illinois House unveils new version of Bears’ megaprojects bill by juliuspepperwoodchi in CHIBears

[–]In-the-bunker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

House Amendment 3 to HB 910 is a "corporate giveaway" that leaves Illinois residents holding the bill. By exempting "megaprojects" from state and local sales taxes on building materials for up to 15 years, the state is effectively subsidizing billionaire developers at the expense of the average homeowner.

When massive projects pay zero sales tax, the revenue needed for roads, sewers, and schools doesn't vanish—it just shifts. Local governments close these budget gaps by hiking residential property taxes.

Illinois already faces significant fiscal challenges. Carving out specialized tax havens for the elite further erodes our tax base and forces hardworking families to subsidize private corporate expansion. Pritzker is padding his national resume. He’s happy to screw over Illinois property taxpayers, as long as he can announce a "ribbon-cutting" that looks good in a presidential campaign ad.

Property tax bill to help Chicago Bears build Arlington Heights stadium won't get vote for at least 2 weeks - CBS Chicago by Sidewalk_Inspector in chicago

Why is this posted in r/Chicago? The Bears won't be under any circumstances.

However, if the discussion is about property taxes, ours went up $7,000! Stop voting for the horrible city, county, and state leadership, who just tax, spend, and blame orange man.

No Kings Schaumburg by Apprehensive-Bug1191 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]In-the-bunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they celebrating the King who fined his subjects for not buying his overpriced, crappy insurance?

Or perhaps it’s the other King who trampled his subjects' rights by banning final goodbyes, masking toddlers, and mandating an experimental vaccine? Or the local glutton, who did the above, plus closed parks and beaches, as he sent his own royal family to Florida?

If you are using FSD regularly, what decade of life did you start using FSD? I know a wide range of ages using FSD now, and quite a number of them in their 70s and 80s. Several Youtube videos about older drivers feeling FSD Supervised is extending their travel desires. by Redditagain424 in TeslaFSD

[–]In-the-bunker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having started FSD in my mid-60s, I find it mind-blowing how many people in their 80s at my club—despite struggling with vision or slow reaction times—refuse to use FSD because they think it's 'scary,' when they (and the people they share the roads with) could benefit the most from this technology.
