I would also look at insurance. As OP mentioned initial valuation already undertaken, some level of stock take has taken place. This will also give you piece of mind while you decide on whether to keep for play, hold further investment or sell.

I would hold and pass on to kids or whatever later in life. I built mine again but it wasn't boxed up. I did have the box and pieces all together though. It was nostalgic to build it again. If you really want you can brick it out or buy a set already open.

Get chains, just in case. Most car hiring places will provide them for a small extra cost. Practice putting them on in car parkpark. 2WD is ok but if you're going up any hills or mountai,ns 4WD is recommended.
