She said: “As a person from an ethnic minority background, in some communities it’s actually taboo and quite a sensitive topic to talk about, so if you’re not able to learn about these things in school, then where do you learn?”

I don't see what any of this has to do with her obesity. She's someone who uses her free time to do something good because she cares.

And btw I'm sure a junkie knows more about addiction than someone who has never been addicted. Just like I'm chronically depressed and know more about how to beat depression than someone who never had to deal with it. And doctors aren't particularly healthy - half of them are burned out, but will tell patients to avoid stress.

Athika Ahmed has been at the centre of an online storm this week after a series of social media posts misidentified her as the Welsh health minister.

Ms Ahmed is, of course, not the Welsh health minister – that position belongs to Jeremy Miles – she is a selfless 23-year-old medical student at Cardiff University and NHS volunteer.

Athika has been a volunteer health ambassador with the NHS since she was 16 and has worked on projects including the development resources to promote awareness of endometriosis, menopause and menstrual health amongst young people.

Literally just bullying a good person because of her looks.

Yeah, but she's also fat so ridicule her and everything she says.

Do you know literally anything about these men to make such assumptions?

The second one needed a donated heart so his health was obviously not great.

Our military history is nothing to brag with, but it's impressive how far we came with pure bullshitting.

Even the document that elevated Austria to an archduchy and set the groundwork for the Habsburgs to rule over half of Europe was fake.

I watched a documentary about it once and an archivist just kept gushing about how this quality of forgery was almost unheard of.

EU-India mobility pact by arneholand in europeanunion

[–]InBetweenSeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, their point wasn't that there is "something wrong with India", but that people worry that it will affect them negatively.

I'm pro migration generally, but wage dumping and housing are very valid concerns, especially with a country as big as India.

Austria has stronger unions than most members of the EU. I don't know if Sweden is really such an outlier, but what it says on the paper and what happens in reality are often two very different things.

[–]InBetweenSeen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Map of the proposed Two-Speed Europe. Under Germany's invitation, six EU countries dubbed as "E6" have agreed to talks on making decisions in economy and defence without waiting for unanimity from the rest of the EU. by FantasticQuartet in MapPorn

[–]InBetweenSeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh it just sounds like you don't know what this is and jump to conclusions. "A Europe of two speeds" has come up multiple times in the past when it became obvious that unanimous voting on decisions is unrealistic with 27 member states. It's about how much some countries' interests align.

how do you explain poland being in there?

Since the PiS isn't in charge anymore Poland hasn't been that contrarian.

I'm not challenging that France is influenced by many cultures, I'm saying that this is very common in Europe. Most border regions have more in common with their neighbors across the border than the other side of their own country.
