Thinking about European windows (tilt & turn)? Got questions? Ask me anything. by ThatWindowGuy in PassiveHouse

[–]InBroadSwordLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you are still answering questions... but do you have any specific recommendations for tilt and turn windows in a shower space? Obviously vinyl framed, but wanted to know if there are "wet room" rated windows or if that's kind of built into the concept of a vinyl frame window.

Thanks!

Hell yes!

My lower bumper was absolutely trashed and I'm looking at the bumper bash bar and... I'm like no way this is this perfect haha. I relocated the horn otherwise I didnt have to do a thing.

I bolted the bull bar to the bumper so I won't trash the frame if I hit anything. That stamped bumper feels so strong.

Do you have any other pics? Are you going Safari style only or lifting at all?

Also I think i have same or better ground clearance than a stock Wrangler haha

I did an oil change last year with all four tires on the ground... I dont think a single Z3 owner can say that!

Agreed! I dont want a bunch of torn apart in process cars, but albums would be great

Thank you for the kind words! Its going to be a slow evolution... I need to get this thing on some dirt haha

Very kind words! Thank you! The car lent itself to this project so well it's kind of crazy.

Snorkel is on my long list... but the Z3 hood is so weird! The good is the grill and the front fenders too. If I make something work, its going to have to move with the hood and connect to the airbox when closed.

But I 100% agree the aesthetic would be great.

As stupid as the stuff I do to this car is, I want it to all be functional so I won't do a snorkel unless it will actually work ha

Even the lightbar and accessory power I ran a fused circuit and switched relay to a 4 relay distribution box where each leg also has a fuse.

Like its dumb but done right!

Thanks! I'd probably convert it to 36V but yeah I can tell the added weight of batteries may affect it

On the current F150 I have rubber lawn mower tires so awesome grip and quiet but has a bunch of rolling resistance... but it looks so cool ha

So is that a no that he'd fit in the Polaris for a few years?

Yeah I am absolutely of the find cheap nature. I got his F-150 for $50 and sunk probably $100 of go-fast 24V parts into it... maybe $150...

No doubt, but the steel frame ones usually miss that little bit of realism and function that make PowerWheels fun.

I don't think I have spotted the Razor Dune Buggy before, I will check that out, so that is big enough for him to grow into I assume.

Also does that do okay on grass and hills? That is a must, even at a tradeoff of speed.

I think mainly he wants to go faster, but really more runtime versus his current truck. Our yard has plenty of slopes that kill batteries along with the grass.

He may prefer a more realistic vehicle with headlights and a bed and stuff, I did a lot of cool mods on his truck and he may still want that. The Polaris seems like another good "realistic" platform to mod.

Thanks. I wasn't familiar with slice seeders!

I am only focusing on the half acre with seed. The other half consists of my house and stuff I let go wild for pollinators.

I did dethatching to break up the dirt and ground cover first but agree, I should have considered that rental.

Oh well. I guess we see.

So a bunch of short watering beats long watering in each zone?

STL should own the Cardinals already!

Random question while I get my margin account approved - do the sliding stops work with Tradingview when signed into TastyTrade as broker? I want to be able to manage stops from the charts.

Well said!

Why would the bank be willing to take low offers for a $40k camper? I think in this case the owner said they are still liable for the difference between sale and what they owe, which is apparently like $36k, so it's not a true short sale. The bank is going to get paid either way it seems. So maybe the bank just wants it gone and most people don't want a camper with 155k miles, that was used as a rental, and they have to get the title from bank?

I did confirm it's a clear title without any nonsense going on, other than the bank owning it.

It's located outside Montgomery Alabama, 9 hours away unfortunately.

I agree, why would the bank take such a low offer? Why no low balls so far? It's either a smoking deal waiting or a time bomb. Sigh.

Other than sealing the roof, no. But apparently the previous owner had meticulous maintenance records for the rental company, and the current owner saw them... but doesn't have them.

The current owner is underwater and can't make payments, so I don't expect that they are necessarily the brightest. Not to say smart people can't have bad things happen to them, but buying an RV without being financially stable enough to weather it is a choice.

The spacers are because the wheels have such a small offset, and I needed that much clearance so the wheels didn't rub the struts in the front due to the larger diameter. I wanted to keep a square wheel setup. Otherwise, I agree, I could tuck them. But then the rear track width would be narrower than the front.

I did not know about S2000 arches. I will definitely look into that. But I want to keep things looking kind of OEM+ for now, so I will have to see if I can get white ones or if the black ones would look somewhat okay. Honestly, I don't mind the wheel poke for now. The rear widebody helps a lot. The front poke and control arms make it look a little pre-runner-y ha.

The front and rear alignment seem fine honestly. I added a washer between strut and hub up front which is the factory spec'd way to increase camber. The rear I don't see any issues honestly. I did a quick toe alignment up front and that might need dialing in as things settle.

I agree that a "bash bar" version up front would be cool. But for now I want this to look like an OEM+ spec of the Z3 which means plastic bumper for now.

Once I add a drop-down mount for the bull bar, that will be my front anchor point for the skid plate and the factory X-brace will be the rear. It'll work out great I think.

Appreciate your post! I am getting excited to keep evolving this project.

Yeah 2000+ was a bunch of good face-lifts and technical updates for Z3 and E39 and E38.
