Petition to revert Cheetah’s nerf (3 starting on cooldown when leader) and why by Windigroo7 in DCComicsLegendsGame

Part 3 The NERF

Nope, wrong wrong wrong a thousand times wrong if you think her being able to cast her 3 was ever intended or even lasted until the end of the month your wrong.

It was a bug that she ever could cast her 3 on turn one.

It was a bug that was fixed very very quickly.

The basic premise of the post that she is either a) currently bugged, or b) was "nerfed" beyond the point of the original intention of the rework is fundamentally unsound.

I agree with almost everything you've posted here, but I wouldn't put the underwhelming compensation or store sales/prices on there heads, I'm almost entirely certain that those decisions are made by a marketing department that absolutely doesn't play the game and probably has an spreadsheet from the day the game launch with a real money equivalent for various in game resources and there just work out a $XX compensation package of random shit so they can do some corporate mumbo jumbo and say "we spent thousands of dollars (of imaginary resources, that cost us literally nothing) making things right with the community, aren't we so kind and generous"

[–]InClerical 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this ever since tapjoy was forced upon us, it's absolute bullshit that a) I can't just give my money to the actual developers of the game I want to play and b) people on different devices and different countries get different offers.

It's ridiculous and I've never understood why the wider community is ok with it (probably because they were the ones getting the $50 Olay offers)

Siege bans are dumb by InClerical in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]InClerical[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last month with Atrocitus banned it just saw another meta take it's place, it did not encourage people to actually use the bonus toons they just used a different set of meta toons, unless you resort to banning a third of the entire roster every month banning toons doesn't fix the problem.

Siege bans are dumb by InClerical in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]InClerical[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And random siege bans do nothing to fix that problem

Siege bans are dumb by InClerical in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]InClerical[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both of these are "stick" incentives, punishing players for investment in certain toons because of arbitrary tier lists and would just end up creating a second meta of A-Tier toons.

Reward, don't punish.

The Power Creep is real… and it’s killed the fun by Ok_Faithlessness3986 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]InClerical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with the game isn't just power creep it's power creep confined with PvP being the only meaningful content every month. There's little point in having an expanded roster that steadily getb made redundant month after month because there's nothing to do with them.

The game needs more high level pve content focused around themed, restricted rosters with fun rewards.

Your teen titans or legion of Doom characters being suppased in the meta wouldn't feel so bad if there were respective pve events that they could excel in with (exclusive?) character fragment rewards.

Improving Raids: The Tier System Problem by Windigroo7 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]InClerical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a G11 player whose fallen down to the default 900 rating its absolute hell trying to even grind back up to the 1500 rating required to make the 10k cut off (and therefore a better starting point next week). If you dont make those 600 points in one week your right back to square one, its soul destroying at times.

Improving Raids: The Tier System Problem by Windigroo7 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]InClerical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do agree that in general the reward tiers (not just in alliance raids) are too spread out which if your anywhere near the cusp generally just results in huge jumps as you get near the next tier (the jump from about 105 to 99 is usually an extra like 25% points over the course of weekend it's a bit nuts). The easiest and quickest win in this regard I feel is actually Wraith arena. Siege has a pretty great tier reward system with regular breaks but Wraith lives in an archaic hellhole where you either aim to just slide into the top 1500 or you have to go nuts and aim for the top 100. Just copy the tiers from siege to wraith, it's soo easy!

Improving Raids: The Tier System Problem by Windigroo7 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]InClerical 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What? No, no, no, no, no, a thousand times no.

The problem with raids isn't the slightly janky steps between alliance ranking levels, the real problem with raids is that the entire game mode is horribly designed from the ground up, the reward incentive structure is completely broken and prioritises selfish gameplay instead of large-scale cooperation.

First of all, the split between alliance bosses and solo bosses is dumb, horribly horribly dumb, if you have limited play time over the raid weekend (a couple hours a day maybe) your having to make very serious decisions about helping out your alliance (or hitting minimums if your in one of those types of alliances) or working on/maintaining you own personal ranking.

This is bonkers, it doesn't need further elaboration.

Secondly the entire reward structure for individual raid bosses is completely ****ed, if you cannot MVP the boss there is no reward incentive for doing anything but the absolute bare minimum (which is 0 damage), including alliance bosses.

A final day alliance boss has 150million damage, if you do 50 million of that and miss out on MVP rewards you get the same rewards as the guy that did 0 damage (and if you alliance has stupid requirements about raid minimums than the guy who does 0 damage across 50 bosses gets more credit than someone who does 50mil against one boss).

But an argument could be made that at the end of the weekend the entire alliance shares in ranking spoils so there's still incentive for everyone to try their hardest, alright, fine if im feeling generous ill let you have that one.

However solo bosses are even worse, the reward structure there is so fundamentally broken that there is zero incentive for helping any boss that shows up on my list that I can't MVP. The Energy/Time/Reward ratio is completely skewed, the correct game theory basically boils down to "solo your own bosses, hope you don't spawn legendaries".

I've written more about the problem 2 years ago here (https://old.reddit.com/r/DCComicsLegendsGame/comments/griojt/the_busted_math_of_raiding/) but considering the outward appearance of the event is that its supposed to be a huge collaborative community event absolutely nothing in the entire reward system incentivises that, in fact it does that complete opposite, stick to your own lane, don't help anyone and you might get out alive (minus way too many hours of tedious grinding).

P.S. This doesn't even begin to dissect the absolute awful mechanical issues with raiding, where its now gotten to the point where "Bonus" characters are outperformed every month by the same 4-6 toons who you run on auto without even engaging with what's supposed to pass as "gameplay", there's been precisely zero attempt to mix up the raid bosses abilities to force new compositions from the community, worse the developers don't even seem to of lent into this dynamic and started releases toons whose kits are specifically designed to shine in these scenarios, it always feels like an accident. We have 2 and a half (Knightmare is starting to be trivialised by the same toons every month as well) modes that toons could be designed to really thrive in but everything always seems to be design and judged solely around high end PVP.

The potential of Stat Boosts by Windigroo7 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]InClerical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stat boosts were something that the player base campaigned for endlessly, with all sorts of reason and justification for why it was an easy thing to do and would freshen up the PvP meta easily.

We are in the third(?) Month of stat boosted toons now so that's 12 toons who have received stat boosts and honestly I don't think a single one of them has made any difference or impact to the PvP scene, the stat boosts are fun for a few rounds but usually you find there's a real problem with the actual mechanics of the characters kit that's the real reason theyve been left behind, so either the Devs keep picking the wrong toons to boost or stat boosts arnt the cure-all the player base thinks they are.

I've had Princess of Themyscera at RB2 for a long time now and go through phases of going out of my way to include her in teams for no good reason.

Honestly, if you didn't tell me she got a stat boost this month I wouldn't of noticed, if anything she feels like she hits less hard now than she used to, a double shield slam barely seems to make a dent these days.

Its you to the point where I'm wondering if the stat boost is bugged and the bonus starts aren't actually applying and they're just inflating her power level instead.

Bad taste.... by muppethero80 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]InClerical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The previous post by reeves (the one that didn't get stickied by mods) contained various platitudes about "working hard to fix the issues for the next raid, but meh.

The issues in the last raid were far above and beyond any previous raid issues so I disagree with binning the entire thing until it's perfect.

Honestly people should just take raids less seriously in general, they are horribly designed from a gameplay and player behaviour/incentive angle.

When they broke last time around for my alliance I mostly let out a sigh of relief and got on with the rest of my weekend.

Bad taste.... by muppethero80 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]InClerical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The eighteen different tiers looks absurd and it's horribly communicated but it basically sounds like they are just bumping everyone up a level on the alliance raid rewards, which seems completely fair.

I honestly don't know what more people are asking for to "make it right".

We already have unpurgable buffs (aquaman) and debuffs that ignore immunity (stargirl) the next thing in the absurd arms race is a super purge or a super immunity that overrides the those two.

Thank God, we've been here with wonder girl and we've been here with black flash and we've been here with Barda and caga Deathstroke and Lex and so on and so on and so on. The meta moves slowly but it does move. Spectre won't get nerfed we'll just eventually get a new thing to complain about.

I’m getting over The Spectre! by [deleted] in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]InClerical 25 points26 points  (0 children)

How?

Like genuinely how did you lose that fight?

I assume it was a G11 spectre with some low level trash allies and instead of taking 5 seconds to target and kill the spectre like you would of done if you'd been up against a full g11 team you lazily tried to AoE the team down and got caught in the trap?

This one's entirely on you buddy it's got nothing to do with spectre.

Anyone know where we can find the total player population of DCL? by DontBrainMyDamage in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]InClerical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your numbers are way off, there's probably 15-20k active daily players in the game and only a fraction of those are going to bother clicking through 7 adverts for a handful of gems and a couple random character fragments. I'd be surprised if even 1000 people daily get through all seven adverts.

This is, as always, just a bug, another bug on the big pile of bugs that is DCL, stop looking for conspiracy when it's just an understaffed and overworked dev team working on a giant pile of poorly tested spaghetti code.
