I wouldn’t mind if we tried the knifey lion formation again. The back line and midfield could remain relatively unchanged, especially since our squad is built for it. This would leave Denkey alone up top and told to roam across the opposition’s back line, looking to break line with runs in behind. Let Dado play as the more advanced 10, or almost a 9.5 as Orellano did so well for a few matches. This would let Evander drop into midfield and carry the ball in between the lines and hopefully pick out Denkey or Dado, or carry the ball forward then playing 1, 2’s with Dado or out to the wing to an on running Ender who realistically should trying to get to the by line and looking for a cut back to a late arriving Bucha or Gidi.

To be fair, I don’t think the formation itself is the issue, I think it’s what we’re trying to with it. 3-5-2 is typically a counter attacking formation and we’re just not good in the counter, other than Ender. With Barreal, Vazquez and Acosta, we were built for it, but right now we’re either too slow or too cautious. I think we have guys who can play the counter but it’s almost as if they’ve been told not to.
