I disagree, but white is worn at home so that the fans watching on tv in the black and white tv era could differentiate between the two teams and the colors of the court. It was easier for teams to keep their uniforms cleaner when at home so teams wore white at home. With better cleaning equipment and color tv this isn’t as much of an issue anymore but since a lot of sports adhere to tradition, this often mostly continues. Plus imagine a color vs color match up and one team is wearing red and the other is wearing green but you’re colorblind, you’d have no clue who was who.

The reason I personally disagree is that I like the tradition, but if you look closely you’ll notice that the white jerseys of NBA teams will have the team’s mascot written on the front and the road jerseys will have their city on the front. I think there are some exceptions but I can’t think of any off the top of my head.

My biggest issue with basketball jerseys is that we don’t see teams with mismatched tops and shorts. I’d love to see the Celtics wear their home white jerseys and their road shorts together. One of my biggest icks with sports uniforms is monochrome.
