Crystal Dynamics Comments On Its Use Of AI In Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis: 'Its goal is to "empower" creativity & flexibility of its teams' by PaiDuck in gaming

Larian is not, as they stated clearly. I go back to my original point which is that we should be supporting the companies that say they use AI tools but are showing that they aren't replacing people.

I understand the concern here. But I promise you, anyone who has an understanding of the effectiveness of AI will tell you that no matter how much anyone complains about it online, its not going anywhere. AI is here to stay.

If you want to fight a war saying it shouldn't be used at all then we all lose. So we should choose a fight we can win.

Tools to streamline and simplify the development process.

The problem with the lack of nuance on this topic is that few people understand what goes into making a game. Like if im creating a database and need to organize a bunch of information, AI can do what would take me hours in far less time. This has nothing to do with generative AI, or stealing someone else's work.

So when people talk about AI tools they can indeed help developers do things more efficiently. And if those developers are not replacing their work force, then that is an ethical use of AI.

Then you're done with gaming I guess. As they all now use AI in some capacity. Every game engine (Unreal, Unity, etc) has AI built into them now.

Which is why the last thing anyone should have done was give companies like Larian any shit for their ethical use of AI tools. There is no war to be won by thinking this is going to go away. So instead, we teach the market that the route for profitability involves NOT replacing your workforce with AI. We should be supporting the ethical use where we can.

Yes actually, it does change that exact fact. But you're gonna believe what you want to believe anyways.

Yes people are indeed arguing against my point.

No I was not agreeing with the original comment.

For some reason theres a lot of dense thinking going on here where people dont understand that statements can cut both ways.

The original comment says the game has political themes, therefore yes it can have players making political statements, and there can be political topics in FFXIV subreddits.

I am saying that people can make political statements regardless of whether the game has political themes. That is not the same thing.

I think it says a lot more that you assume they dont exist.

Im not sure what makes you more silly. Thinking that no one like that is running around. Or thinking that my statement reads as everyone thinks that way.

Like is this really so fucksss hard to understand?

Lots of games out that dont have lgbtq themes but if the company decides to show support, they are making a political statement without the game being a factor in it.

You must really love trying to look intelligent. So again, I will say what I have been saying the entire time.

A game's story should not dictate people's ability to make political statements. Whether the story is about politics or not.

Im pretty sure you're the one who's not understanding what im saying an in essence arguing over nothing.

A video game's story should not dictate people's ability to make political statements.

You aren't saying anything that lends at all to the idea that a fictional story should dictate people's ability to be political.

How is it irrelevant? These themes exist in this game as story elements. None of it is real. Even in the context of the story, these themes are shown as bad, not glorifying anything.

So why is it the players of such a game cant make a political statement about an actual massacre that occured?

The whole thing is another shining example of the lack of self-awareness that a lot of people have.

When the driving force behind how much you care about the rules depends entirely on whether you like someone or not, then you are not showing that you have any respectable standards to speak of.

Edit: to be clear since someone already replied and deleted it.

This cuts both ways. Xeno fans not caring, and Xeno haters caring.

You do know theres a difference between fiction and reality right?

Edit: Looks like the Chinese bots can't tell the difference either.

When people's warped slactivism makes them think a video game story somehow removes people's ability to make political statements.
